Photo Etc Instructions

This is the first time I am adding photo etc to a model, in this case a Tamiya Lancaster, and I have a question regarding the photo etch instructions. In a number of places it states "plastic" and provides length and diameter (see the two places in the photo). Does that mean I need to make a plastic piece, of those dimensions to insert in those places?

Yes,
it's telling you to use 1/2 mm polystyrene ( or ABS ) rod and then the length of the rod .
1 and 4 mm length in those examples .

You can of course use brass or any other suitable material .

In case you have other examples ahead, the the "l" is length, and the "o" with the slash is a symbol for diameter.

I'd like to see progress pics if you have the time or inclination :)

Photo Etch or PE for short… I hate them tiny ones. In fact I hate them altogether except the seat belts. Don't get me wrong, they are fantastic if you know how to fold them. I use gorilla glue when working with PE.

Sad thing is since you're doing the Lancaster Bomber kit, who's really going to see them once you button up the fuselage. With those small windows, you're not gonna notice the great detailing inside. I get it if it's only you, the builder knows they're there. All the power to ya.

FWIW… I'd invest in exterior PE instead.
