1/16 Panzer IV

This is my progress so far, a little over a month into it. I got the lower hull interior and exterior finished with the exception of the tracks. I'm in no rush to start the mind numbing process of track assembly. That looks like an awesome kit and the detailing you've got goin on here is pretty impressive. Awesome build, Kevin!
 
My hats off to Trumpeter.......track assembly wasn't fun, but it wasn't frustrating as expected. This kit came with plastic track pins which was making me nervous. The 1/16 Tiger II came with metal pins. I guess I see why, the Tiger II tracks are twice as wide.
I spent just over two hours yesterday cutting everything from the sprues and doing clean up. It took about an hour and a half today for assembly. I only broke one pin, and every one dropped was recovered. Surprisingly since the carpet is almost the exact color of the plastic parts.

Looks fantastic as alsways! but...track assembly = ugggh.

Maybe I should try1/16th to assuage my hatred.

For those brownish ones, they are "AFV Club" Pz4 with extra length for other variants. I'm about to become a fan of rubber-band tracks. The black ones (top) and the white ones (middle) are rom Meng, and are far superior. But all are 1/35 scale and a general PITA.
 
I got the tracks painted and mounted, now the rest of the build is gravy!
The instructions call for 99 links each side, but I did 100 to get a little more sag.
I also drilled out the hinges on the two hatches on the lower hull and inserted metal rods to make them operable. I want to make as much of the interior viewable as possible. 17290146179184100407745212266726.jpg

What a fantastic job you are making of this, looks stunning . I agree about the Superking book, an encyclopedia of model tank building, great asset to any German armour builder. I have the Trumpeter KT in the stash but have avoided opening as yet, who knows...one day ? Looking forward to see more of this amazing Pz 1V.

Do you have the 1/16 scale with full interior? If so, I can say it's a really good kit. It took me over a year to complete.

Yes that is the one I have that's why I bought the Superking book, although David Parker's modelling skills are far beyond mine. But still a great read and very handy to have around.
 
Yes, Parker's skills are beyond me as well, especially the scratch building. I did the best I could using his book as a guide. I completed it before I joined this forum, but there are some pictures in a thread here in the armour section.
If you have the time I would encourage you to have a go at the kit.

This whole build is lookin pretty sweet, Kevin, and I would tend to agree with you. I prefer to work with large scale figures and kits because of the amount of detail you can put into them. I still have plenty of 1/35th, but I'm in no hurry to go back to them.

And Wow! Call me late for supper, but I didn't know of David Parker until now, but his work is incredible. The photo shoots make his builds come to life, astounding.
