    Tamiya 1/35 armor?

    Old school. VERY old...Airfix Lysander

I don't think they're all that bad. For today's standards, I'd say rather they present more of a challenge.

How to tell what size a needle and tip is without the label on the tube?

I'd be inclined to see if the manufacturer has a website, too, and see if they list that info there.

    Opinion

Hasegawa is consistent in its standard of high quality. HobbyBoss is hit-or-miss, depending on the specific kit. I built HobbyBoss' F4F Wildcat kit, which was pretty good, though it was also pretty much a part-for-part copy of the excellent Tamiya kit. I can't speak to chipping fluid; I don't...

    Preparations for airbrushing

Depending on the brand/model airbrush you have, there may be an attachment to use with glass jars. Paasche makes such an attachment, for example, and some models come with glass jars, too. The jars are about the size of the larger Tamiya paint jars. That lets you mix paints in the jar and...

    box art hoarders?

When I was a kid, I did that for a time with the box art from Revell's 1/720 ship kits. I cut the top panel to hang (ie, tack up) on the wall. I cut the side panels up for the pictures of the other kits, to keep like baseball cards. I was pretty unsophisticated about it, though. Just a pair...

Comment by 'the Baron' in media 'Punch-an-die-set.jpg'

I have their hex punch set, which is useful for making bolt heads of various sizes. It's a nice set to have, but the punches pulled out of 2 of the tapping heads, or whatever they're called. Still useful, but the punch will sometimes come away when removing it from the die.

    Remember When

I forget the brand I had but it only had one speed. The frame was light orange with red highlights, and a red banana seat. Never got a sissy bar, either, and I'm glad I didn't. Looking back, it would have been a little harder to mount but more importantly, dismount, if you had to in a hurry...

    Kit Company Histories

Yes, I subscribe to his channel. I enjoy learning the history of companies whose models I built as a kid and build today. I have Thomas Graham's books on Monogram, Revell and Aurora, too. They're good references, though the Monogram and Revell books only go up to the forced merger under Odyssey...

    Pegasus Great White Shark Kit

This build is well-timed, too, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the release of "Jaws".

    Airfix tank kits

I got a look at these kits yesterday at a club meeting, and they're nice kits. Would the AMPS/Hyperscale crowd wrinkle their noses at them? Sure, but they hate everything. I think most modelers could build these kits and enjoy them. The 1/35 ambulance is apparently an original Airfix tooling...

    Please help (In New Zealand)

As far as kits go, considering the circumstances, I would look at the Japanese company Tamiya's WWII armor kits. You would get a good blend of buildability and detail, as well as a wide range of subjects. They're also readily available in pretty much every hobby shop in the world, as well as...

    Experts Needed!

I can picture it as some kind of flying vehicle from some sci-fi 'verse. With the front being the end pointing to the left of the photo. Or like you said, Aquaman, and it's a water scooter or some such. Maybe we move this out of the Buy/Sell/Trade forum, too?

    Revell PT Boat

It's interesting-Revell actually issued the PT-73 from "McHale's Navy" back in 1965. It was a proper Vosper MTB, and they re-released it later with Royal Navy markings.

Whats the preferred source to buy paints for automotive models. Bothe airbrush and brush type enamels?

OK, good, you should check out the online vendors, then, too. Also, since you're in the US, besides the HobbyLobby, you may have a Michael's (relatively) near. They carry the craft store brands we mentioned in a couple of posts. Good luck with your search!

Whats the preferred source to buy paints for automotive models. Bothe airbrush and brush type enamels?

Where are you located, Stevie, if you don't mind me asking? Have you looked at any online vendors? I would try MegaHobby, for one, which is the online vendor for Stevens International. Another online vendor to check out is Sprue Brothers. And there's Squadron, too. Other forum members will...

Death Star side walls, missing clips

You didn't say whether you've tried reaching out to Bandai, so please forgive me when I suggest it, if you already have. That's what I would do-look online for contact info and try reaching the company. If that fails, I'd try asking the vendor, if possible. If you bought the kit from a...
