I will be following with interest.
I was given a wooden model years ago. It was a disaster for me. I did not do any research, nor have the tools, skill, or experience for the project.
Enjoy your journey.
I save the instructions of my builds, and some of the boxes that had artwork I really liked.
I had to throw away the boxes after a cross country move last year.
I finished the first build after the move five months ago and still got the box.
Maybe vary the tone of the uniform color? A darker shade for the shadows, lighter shade for the highlights.
That's something I want to work on when I paint my figures. Before I just painted the base color, did a dark wash, then a light color drybrush. Seemed alright for 1/35 , but for the 1/24 I...

Looking good so far.......
I'll be following along, I picked up some 1/24 MB figures as well.
I first just got the girl with the shotgun, figured it would be an interesting subject to improve my figure painting skills, I'm not good.
I have since gotten two more, going to make a diorama when I...
The camo looks pretty close to the pic of your instructions in post #103.
I think making it a little darker would look better, in my opinion.

Hi Chris,
I decided to wait on the 5 in. guns until later. I'll finish the superstructure first, working from the middle of the ship outwards. Lots of PE, ladders, railings, radars, etc......
This is probably the best I've done, looks good enough for me.
I used this brass paint, then washes with some Vallejo dark browns. Took a scrap of sponge very lightly dabbed the brown color on some more. Drybrushed lightly with some off white and very little silver.
