Thanks for the feedback, guys. I haven't done a test yet as I'm working on cleaning up the black base still. If I don't get the effect I'm hoping for I'll strip off all the paint and come up with another game plan, it surely won't be the first time.

Does anyone know of any currently available hemi orange paint? I would prefer to use an airbrush to apply the paint so I'm not really interested in purchasing a large spray can.
