[I hope this is the right forum]
I'm working on a Star Trek USS Reliant model. I found a photo of a Miranda class studio model (below) I want to use as a color reference but am not confident about matching the photo color to spray can paints (I don't have an airbrush). Thus, I'm hoping folks on...
I'm working on the Enterprise Refit 1/1000 model and need to paint the front of the warp nacelles. The problem is the piece is really small and it's black with a sorta raised white cross. See this picture - http://www.starshipmodeler.com/trek/md_enta-53.jpg
My question - is there a way to paint...
If anyone reads this post in the future, I did end up using my fingernail to remove the broken decal portions along the panel lines. I then cut out a spare decal and applied the required portion in the empty space, with a paper backing underneath the excess. Once the applied portion was dry, I...
I'm working on the Round2 1/1000 USS Excelsior model. I've been applying decals to the upper saucer section and damaged one of the Aztec decals by accidentally scraping it. In the picture below, I have a red circle around the damage.
I want to repair this and am wondering the best way. Should I...
Let's say I have applied a decal, including brushing micro-sol on it. Now, I need to apply a decal on top of the already set decal. Is there a recommended best practice for this? Should I just micro-set the surface, apply the decal, and then apply micro-sol, as before?
When applying a clear coat, do you apply a single layer, let it set for 12-24 hours, then apply another layer? Alternatively, is it better to do a pass, wait 10 minutes, do another pass, etc...?
Thanks!
I have a plastic model that I've primed and paint, mostly with Tamiya spray cans. The paint has cured for a few days at least, some parts much longer.
Where I'm unclear is whether I should wet sand prior to a clear coat or after the clear coat? I've found schools of thought for both ways and am...
What is a wash?
Also, will spraying a clear gloss coat on transparent plastic parts affect the transparency (as in, would it frost the parts)?
And for Pledge Revive it, do you mean https://www.pledge.com/en-za/products/pledge-moisturizing-wood-polish? If so, would you just spray on a thin layer...
I've been painting a plastic model using Tamiya paints (the TS and AS lines). I'm about done painting and ready to start decaling.
But before I apply decals, is it recommended that I apply a gloss coat to the model or will the decals look just as good if they're applied directly on the paint...
