Hi fellow hobbyists! Has anyone tried the Medusa Clash of the Titans model kit being shipped from Taiwan?

Maybe it is you who should read up on copyright laws. Are you an attorney? Buying another company's molds and the rights that come with the transfer of ownership are not the same thing as pirating another maker's intellectual property. Piracy is a major problem in the figure world...

Hi fellow hobbyists! Has anyone tried the Medusa Clash of the Titans model kit being shipped from Taiwan?

Welcome to the Herd! As far as recasts go, I avoid them, because recasts are generally unauthorized copies and the original sculptor gets nothing from the sale.

    Bored in the UK

Welcome to the Herd! Do you build models yourself, too? It would be a nice tribute to your pal to build one or two or even more, in his memory. Best regards, Brad

Getting slowly ready to do some actual modelling again

Welcome to the Herd, Tannhauser! That's a pretty good group of kits for a start. I'd start with the 1/72 P-51D, as a warm-up. I look forward to seeing your builds! Best regards, Brad

    Hello

Welcome to the Herd, SP! Thats a nice-lookin' Vette! Replacing the kit chrome turned out pretty well, too. I find I do that now as a matter of course, because the chrome looks too toy-like compared to paints or chrome products like Molotow. I look forward to seeing more of your builds! Best...

    Airfix 54mm Classics

Nice! Those are the styrene kit figures, am I correct? Not the 1/32 soft plastic figures from the sets Airfix issued?

    Acrylic retarder?

Yeah, I don't use Tamiya's acrylic thinner to clean my airbrush, only for thinning the Tamiya acrylics. I use the thinner when handbrushing Tamiya acrylics, but again, not to clean the brushes. I use isopropyl to clean, for the same reason you mention, Tim. My experience with Tamiya acrylics...

    Paint shakers, which one?

As far as stirrers go, I bought myself Badger's Model 121 paint mixer. It works pretty well. When I use it, I also use a toilet paper core as a splatter shield. Not that there's a lot of splattering, but just in case.

    Custom Decals Wanted

Another possibility is Decalcomaniacs, https://decalcomaniacs.net/. It's run by an armor and sci-fi modeler, Georg Eyerman. You could try contacting him for details on ordering.

Monogram 1/48 B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay

It's a fun model, and still a very good model of the Superfort. It's funny to see the kit for sale on the second-hand market for a hundred dollars or more. I look forward to seeing your build on this one!

    A Christmas Story

The drummers are mechanical toys, stamped and lithographed tin with a clockwork mechanism. I think at least one of my toy soldier references shows one. I'll see if I can find it.

    A Christmas Story

OK, that'll be out of my ken. It's a flying model, not a static model (like a scale model). Very interesting to see close-ups of it. My experience with powered models only covers the old Cox control line flying models. You'd fire 'em up, then spin around in a circle till the fuel ran out, the...
