1:48 scale kits are getting too pricey!

And I will be honest too. I can be compulsive and get really interested in “the new shiny” thing “, hence my interest in Arma hobby. Interestingly, I recently bought a 1/48 Eduard Bf-109 F4 based n their fairly modern tooling. I struggled with the kit and ended up abandoning it. Then I bought...

I think my problem is I am addicted to all of these esoteric manufacturers like Arma and Clear Prop!

1:48 scale kits are getting too pricey!

I brought up this F-86A kit at my joint shop today and the owner said “Yeah… I declined to order that one.”

1:48 scale kits are getting too pricey!

I am fortunate enough have a local model shop that competes well on price. Usually their price is better than most online retailers if you add in shipping to online cost. It is literally a mom and pop shop. They are very friendly and helpful. https://modelcave.com/index.html/

1:48 scale kits are getting too pricey!

I do use Scalehobbyist as well. They did not have this in stock when I checked. Sprue Brothers usually have good stock in aftermarket, which is why I use them. But I also use Ebay a lot.

How long can I leave pre-cut (tape) masks on a canopy?

I suppose I could do everything BUT the wheels and then redo the wheels all by themselves

How long can I leave pre-cut (tape) masks on a canopy?

I am working on an Airfix P-40B. I managed to damage the wheels I want to use. I have contacted Airfix's spares department, but it might take a couple weeks to get anything from them. I have completed most of the painting on the plane, but still need to do some gloss coats and weathering. THE...

1:48 scale kits are getting too pricey!

I think that all Clear Prop kits are some sort of limited edition. They don’t have as much reach as some of the larger companies. There are ton of sprues in that kit

1:48 scale kits are getting too pricey!

This is a good idea! I am pretty new to this hobby, and I enjoy a lot of the newly engineered kits. But I bet I could find some nice Tamiya’s from the 90’s for cheap

1:48 scale kits are getting too pricey!

$75.99 marked down from $95?! Look I have paid $55 for an Arma Hobby 1:48 kits, but this feels like an escalation. That is a lot of money for this scale. https://spruebrothers.com/clpcp48024-1-48-clear-prop-models-f-86a-sabre/

What was your car growing up (high school car)

I had two cars in high school. First a 1974 Mustang II that I bought for $350 in 1986. When I graduated in 1987 I bought a 1982 Toyota Celica. I looooved that car.
