Engine Model Build Log: Teching 4-Cylinder Progress Thread

Okay, I apparently did not understand that I can't have an opinion on a scale model that isn't made of paper. My comments were aimed at the manufacturer of the model and not the OP (sorry if that wasn't clear). Once again, my bad for having a less than positive opinion of the design of the...

Engine Model Build Log: Teching 4-Cylinder Progress Thread

I don't have any issues with having a scale model of something. But in this case, for this amount of money, I want poisonous exhaust fumes filling my house!!! And, in this case, it's so close to being a real engine. Hey, I got 260 supercars, customs and classics sitting in my...

Engine Model Build Log: Teching 4-Cylinder Progress Thread

I don't deny the beauty of this model and the precision with which it is made. But if you are going to this level of precision and detail, then why not go that one step further, and make it run for real. The fact that it is electrically driven turns me right off. I'd rather have me a battery...

Finished Photos of Masterpiece Models 1/48 Scale Luna Spaceship Diorama From the Movie Destination Moon

Phillip, that behind-the-scenes photo is amazing! As are the paintings by Chesley Bonestell for this film. The background art must have been one of his. Just look at that massive backdrop painting!!

Finished Photos of Masterpiece Models 1/48 Scale Luna Spaceship Diorama From the Movie Destination Moon

As much as I LOVE the old TinTin books, I see no connection between "On a marché sur la Lune" and the movie Destination Moon. Not only did the movie appear years before the TinTin book, it's an American production with an original screenplay. I doubt those Hollywood types even heard of Herge or...

    Airfix 1/24 Spitfire Mk VIII.

From what I understand, the "new" 1/24 Spitfire has undergone extensive reworking from the original model. I have the 1/24 Hurricane, which appears to be the exact same model as the 1970s version, and will be a challenge for me*. *I already see issues with the fuselage assembly. (some twist...

    Revell PT Boat

yes, and it was a lot closer to the fake PT built for the TV show. Too bad it didn't include figures! Looks like Revell created the Royal Navy Vosper kit but delayed it 's release one year, so they could rebrand it as McHales boat while the TV show was still on the air. 1965 being the second...

    Airfix tank kits

My comments, re old Airfix models, were not directed at anyone specific. Relax. And... I was referring to the constant negative criticism and comparisons of old kits (original Airfix, old Monograms and Revells, or whatever). I don't care what Airfix is selling now, whether they be reboxed...

    Controlling the point of view

LittleMarten and BarleyBop Trompe l'oeil has nothing to do with forced perspective. Trompe l'oeil is about realism. Painting something that appears realistic, like painting flowers on a wall. Sure, perspective can be used in a painting to add more realistic effect, like with architecture, but...

Agora models, 1/8 Scale Aston Martin from No TIme To Die

Okay, that's a fair bit more than I had imagined. Odd how the 1 year/12 pack option is $200 cheaper than the 2 year/24 pack option. Obviously buying the full kit up front is the cheapest option at $1600. I think an additional $500 for the "Collectors Edition" display case is a bit greedy...

Agora models, 1/8 Scale Aston Martin from No TIme To Die

It's obviously a very impressive looking model, although those lid and door gaps are painfully excessive (lol). It looks expensive, with all the very nice detail and paint finish. I would expect to pay a lot more than a boxed plastic model kit that requires a lot more work to build. So I have...

    Airfix tank kits

Because I design models and put a huge amount of my effort into researching things and trying to make the kit look as accurate as possible, I cannot look at a model any more and not nit-pick it to death. I do my best to restrain myself when it comes to commenting online, but sometimes it slips...

    Flat Orange ??

Old enamel paint can be flattened with talcum powder. At least, thats how I used to make matte colours. Not sure how it works with today's acrylics. Mix red and yellow and add a drop of medium brown to make it more of a human hair colour?

Okay, I wish to sign up for the Group Build - Racing Car theme. I have never taken part in such a thing before. What am I required to do? Started this kit today. But honestly, I have no plans to rush it. It could take a very long time to get it finished. I actually bought the kit a couple of...
