Group Build: Historical Warships of WWII

Just a little bit more of what's going on. Removing molded doors and sealing up portholes that will be refitted with photo etch. Depending on open doors, may add some interior walls, nothing fancy. This part of the aft structure has the most watertight doors, six starboard and four port. I...

Pretty much all of the above...lol. File, sanding sticks, and tight spots with #11 exacto. Keeping the sanding to about 320 grit so there is some bite for the PE and CA.

Group Build: Historical Warships of WWII

I just wanted to give a quick update. Yes, the group build is still active (@Edbert that means you too) and I'm just in some mundane and tedious parts of the build that are not exciting at all for anyone else to watch. The upper levels above the hangar deck are both steel plated. So of course...

    Share your scale modeling workspace

Wow, these are some very nice workspaces for modeling. They make me feel very small and novice in comparison to my modeling desk and small cabinet. I really need to step up my game...lol.

There is also Infini Rigging and they carry a couple lines for aircraft rigging. I haven't used them before, but it's just another option out there. Infini Model Rigging

I use EZ-line myself for all my rigging these days. Easier to work with and the stretch in the line helps. I use the black, white and rope colors in both Heavy .5mm and Fine .25mm. Usually in 1/350 scale, the heavy line would be more for anchor lines then the radio or antenna lines, so it's...

I received a partial refund for the defect. I only plan to use 2 planes so I didn't make any effort to repair it, basically using it for testing cuts, paints etc. before I work on the other planes.

    Controlling the point of view

How about we just stay on topic and enjoy OUR hobby of scale model building. There are plenty of sites to get your daily political doses from, let's not do it here. This thread has been hijacked enough when there is good information on the topic. Again, this is not the place or topic to bring...

    1/200 USS IOWA

It's a much easier way when the tiny holes are needed in plastic like that. Just practice the technique on some spare plastic till you get the hang of the heat and pressure needed for the depth you need.

Absolutely the best way to apply PE parts that are too small to handle any other way. Always apply the CA to the plastic part and place the PE and position as needed. You can always use an accelerator or IPA to set the part quickly. You can save small drill bits by using a pin or small sewing...

    Controlling the point of view

Exactly. And when you get it right, you not only engage the viewer with an exact moment caught and framed, you get them intrigued in such a way that they imagine what may have occurred leading up to the moment, or wondering what happened afterwards. To achieve this, details matter, big and...

    Controlling the point of view

Interesting topic. I am somewhat of an artist in many mediums practiced and used throughout my life. Modeling and dioramas was were I felt I could express "views" or view point by placing the model(s) in the right setting that emotes the most of the subject. It doesn't always have to be in the...
