"Reinforcing" small delicate parts that are partially broken

How about not FIXING the skinny part, but replacing it? Cut off the pointy end, cut off the skinny shaft, drill into the thicker barrel section and the pointy bit, and put everything back together. Use a metal rod instead of plastic. You might end up with that being the only thing that...

SMA What's New In Your Stash?!?

The guy's father-in-law passed. He was a hoarder/collector of many things. The guy I got them from wanted most things gone, and Mike came to the rescue. I was surprised to see most were still in plastic. Hey. I missed out on the '66 Fairlane convertible my roommate saw and bought from the...

See the pics. Only the NASCAR kits are included at this time. I just got them, so; If you want one that I...

SMA What's New In Your Stash?!?

I'm not (wasn't?) a big "stash guy," but I got these today through FB Market. Got an excellent deal for this, plus six more not pictured tht he threw in. I'll never build all of them, so some are available. I've not been through them fully yet, so the list doesn't exist (though ALL of the...

    ITS WAR

Coincidentally, I walked into my hobby room to find a large, horrible creature buzzing about. My initial reaction was to swat or spray it, but she was straightening things up, so I let my wife be.

    Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming – Purpendicular – 1996

(Thread title in keeping with my reply in "Into The Void') "I will now try to title every future thread with a Sabbath or Deep Purple song name. (Highway Star WILL NOT be used. Livin' Wreck, however, is likely)" I admit to some frustration while watching some YouTube videos of kit builds. I...

    Into the Void

DUDE! I read that title and IMMEDIATELY started playing Sabbath in my head! I will now try to title every future thread with a Sabbath or Deep Purple song name. (Highway Star WILL NOT be used. Livin' Wreck, however, is likely)

Do you find cooking and scale modeling are similar?

Just kidding. I looked up "fake food for avdertising" and pasted them. Did you know that they use Elmer's White glue to simulate milk in cereal ads? Anyway, I'd like to see some of the better scratch builders tackle something like this, because I can't find an AMT BLT.

    Kit Company Histories

I did a search for "maxsmodels" and came up empty. So...has anyone seen the series on kit company histories on the YouTube? The source is @maxsmodels, and there are at least twenty videos in his "Kit Model Company Histories" playlist. I found most quite interesting (especially since there are...

How do you appraise your completed static scale models for insurance purposes?

Careful what you ask for. Letting your agent know you have piles of plastic, paint in jars/plastic bottles/aerosol spray cans, thinners, hardeners, glues...most of which is flammable...on a nifty open workstation (we've all seen them posted, and which are NOT flammable cabinets) could just as...

who has dipped their foot in the world of wood ships?

I built a functional (as in "it was raced") Miss Atlas Van Lines from a Dumas kit in my 20s. Followed that with stick-built Miss Bud (same basic configuration) and a horrible version of the 1950's Miss Pepsi. I never got close to the two engines looking good. Eventually, a future project will...

    Model builds

The Seaview! My brother once said how grateful he was that they came close enough every week so we could see what was going on. I always wondered who kept leaving he screen door unlocked...allowing hose seaweed monsters in all the time.
