1/1000 USS Excelsior NX-2000

Latest project finished here at the workshop is the AMT/Round 2 1/1000 scale USS Excelsior, NX-2000
Buildup is using the 50th anniversary release, with the Round 2 Aztec decal sheets

A look at the various pieces and parts. Some of these date back to the original version of this kit, expecially the clear parts.
Saucer and secondary hull are completely new tools, though

Sub assemblies built separately to aid in later decalling

Prior to decalling, I went in and did the major detail painting on the nacelles, deflector, and saucer

With main detail painting finished, I moved on to the lengthy process of the aztec decals and markings

Gave the model a coat of Krylon gloss coat, and then found out that I had accidentially scraped off a major part of the decal on the impulse decking.
To fix that, I mixed up a cloase match and hand painted the piece.

Decided not to pencil in the deflector grid, as it's only present on the saucer with the Excelsior class
