oK SO THIS IS MY FIRST EVER ARMOR MODEL AS I'M MOSTLY DO AIRCRAFT BUT THIS CAUGHT MY INTEREST AT THE LOCAL HOBBY STORE. I'M USING THE TOM KIT.SO IF ANY OF YOU COULD OFFER ANY ADVICE ON THIS KIT.I PLAN ON MODELING THIS TANKETTE AS A CAPTURED BY THE GERMANS. I GUESS MY ONLY REAL QUESTION SO FAR IS PAINTING. I'M LOOKING AT A BASIC ONE COLOR PAINT JOB. WHAT WAS THE BASIC COLOR FOR GERMAN ARMOR IN THE WESTERN FRONT ? ALSO WHAT COLOR TO PAINT THE TRACKS. ANY ADVICE ON THIS KIT WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED. :)

never heard of tom kits, but your basic german armor color was German grey,

From the beginning of the war to 1943 = German Grey
Mid 1943 to 1945 = German Dark Yellow from the factory. Green and Red Brown applied as camo.
Late war 1945 = Running out of paint: so Primer Red , mostly Green, or back to German Grey even.
Believe TOM was 1st manufacturer, Mirage also made these kits. I've built the Mirage UE in German service.
Careful cutting parts off...sprue connections very close.
Plastic is thick and brittle....careful modifying
Remember small fragile parts.......care handling.
These kits can be built into nice models with some work.
Good luck with build.

I paint my tracks with Gunmetal then dry brush a dark steel and wash with browm or rust color.

All the equipment that Germans captured was repainted mostly to German gray so that should be your choice. If you would post some photos maybe I could help in some way.
Regards
Lukasz
