It was originally built in japan to order for the soviet union as an ice breaker cargo ship but the japs decided to keep it. It later was fitted with guns and took part in the Pacific theatre as an ammo supply ship I believe, it was then used after the war as a repatriation vessel and then as a rescue ship so she's had an interesting history and is now a museum ship in Japan.
