I didn't use the canopy that came with the kit. It just didn't look right and seemed to be too mishappened so I built the other half of the circular part and the window fromes from styrene. I also added some detail to the cockpit, shortened/flattened the nose of the cockpit cone to make it less "pointy" looking and replaced the guns with brass rod and added some wire detail and the "half pipe" thing in the area on the bottom of the cockpit cone. (didn't turn out so well in the pictures)

I drilled the rivets in

I replaced some engine detail

I also added a magnet so that the cockpit could fully rotate

Finished The detail painting and weathering
but still have to figure out a better stand and mount for it. This is temporary

With other 1/72 stuff from Fine Molds and Revell to get a sense of scale

MAGNIFIQUE !

Wonderful job on this kit.

Perfect addition to your beautiful 1/72 collection.

May I ask who produced that B-Wing kit?

It was from Fantastic Plastic, although they are sadly out of production (but you can email [email protected] if your interested as there may be a couple private items still left)

It was mastered by Alfred Wong and cast by Blappy. THe casting quality was excellent. Very smooth, little to no flash or clean up and no bubbles

I'd be interested in seeing other people's builds of it. I'm sure there are some great ones out there

you did a great job with that old MPC kit, were there any issues with it, as i'm looking to have a go at one of those soon?

Actually this isn't the old MPC kit. This is a 1/72 resin version. The old MPC kit is smaller (I've seen people scale it anywhere between 1/94 and 1/144)

The old MPC kit is actually pretty good for what it is though. It is actually more accurate to the studo model in regards to it's overall shape and surface detailing than this one is (especially in the engine area detail, the nose cone and whole cockpit assembly in general). The biggest drawbacks next to its size (since it is an odd scale, nothing really scales with it) is the gaps (at least in mine) and raised panel lines.

Great job with this b-wing!
I've always enjoyed this design a lot - too sad it is so hard to get a garage kit of one of them nowdays.

Very nice! It's my understanding there aren't any very good plastic kits of this, which is a huge shame.

Great 1/72nd scale collection too. So cool.

Ask for the "Blade Wing fighter"

Nice 'blade wing' you got there blakeh1! I've always wanted one (or 2) of these but never wanted to pay the hefty price that it goes for on evil bay, I've shot an email over to them. No harm in asking ;)
