Sorry for not posting here earlier, just thought I'd test-drive the forum a bit before chiming in here.
I teach kids how to do math-ish stuff, some things about how and why things move, how to make a pencil do what you want it to in order to make nice looking things, and how to make loud things sound... awesome.
I like to hit things with other people who have loud stuff. I like to hit them FAST. It's awesome.
I modelled a lot while growing up (mostly air & sci-fi), then joined the Army Reserves, where I started modelling AFV. Big part of being in a tank crew is knowing who to shoot and who not to . Lots of us built AFV models to sharpen our skills in that regard.
...And here it is 12 years later. I got permission to show kids how to do stuff for a living, quit the Army, taught for many years, got some financial steadiness, and I'm finally in a point in my life where it's time for some sort of change. Love my teaching job, so I'm not changing that. Getting a little bored with painting mini's so I thought I'd go back to scale modelling. A HUGE part of that was thanks to Grendels and Scott Girvan on YouTube \m/. We should jam. It'd be cool.
In all seriousness, I have to give HUGE thanks to everyone who's posted to my needy topics so far. I only hope that I can someday contribute to you, your skills, and your love for the hobby in some way, the way you've helped me along so far.
I'll start posting in the War Wheels group with my Cougar AVGP. This was the machine I cut my tanking teeth on, and it's a very personal build for me. Once I have something worth posting (featuring my soon-to-be mad scratchbuilding skills ), I'll have some pic's in the War Wheels forum. I've also got an old cutaway MF that's somehow (sort of) survived the past 12 years. My mod's (lighting?) will be up in the MF build section, hopefully by December or January. Have plans for a basic OOB Harrier for the Navy/Marine build, but we'll see whether I have the time to do that.
