I've heard many different terms that are used as a means to group together specific scales, such as large, small, fine, micro, etc. How do you determine what is large or small though?

Is there a general acceptance of size that falls within the perimeters of each group or is it all down to personal opinion?

Have never heard different scales of any kit being referred to as those. Usually goes by the scale of the kit....take aircraft for example, your usual scales are 1/144, 1/72, 1/48, 1/32, and 1/24, bigger the number after the "1" the smaller scale the kit is.

I'm with Scott on this. I usually go by the 1/whatever for deciding.
From there, it boils down to a couple of things for me.
Space available
Detail in kit
Cost of said kit (s)
