I've started to paint the cockpit and exhaust. The cockpit was base coated with Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black and will be sprayed over with a mix of black lightened a bit with Tamiya Nato Black, with the exception of the IPs staying pure black.
I found a really simple way of painting yellow. I use a microbrush to flow on a first coat of Mr. Color Orange Yellow, I imagine any Mr. Color yellow would work, followed by a coat of Tamiya Flat Yellow a couple hours later. Two coats and its nearly perfect yellow.
The exhaust was base coated using a mix of Mr. Color Silver and Burnt Iron which I'll be able to strip Tamiya off of in case I screw up. I have an assortment of Tamiya paints and a weathering set I'm going to use to paint the exhaust.
Add plastic strips under the speed brake if you plan on displaying it closed otherwise it just falls into the well.
When you are joining the behind the cockpit part D24 to the fuselage, use a thick cement to attach it to the top fuselage half. Don't attach it to the bottom fuselage half because it won't be flush on top and with dry fitting the intakes I found that I'll probably need the gap between part D24 and the bottom fuselage half.
I used CA to attach nickel plated brass nuts to the inside of the nose, though, I prefer to use epoxy. I'll use a self hardening modelling clay to make sure the nuts stay in place.
