Howdy folks,

I recently purchased the AMT Cutaway falcon model and would like to detail it with aftermarket parts. However, I have had no luck finding the photoetch kits or triliance gun well for this model.

I have downloaded the jpeg files for the cockpit and gun-well that is floating on the intertubes.

My question is, what are the scale of the various 'Kenner' parts that seem to be for sale on the Ebay. Will they fit the scale of this model. I'm not looking for screen accuracy. I'm looking to detail this model in a more figurative homage rather than a literal interpretation of my favorite ship.

Thanks much,

Your new model is 1:64 scale. The star wars action figure line is 1:18 scale. So you see that will not work out to well. I think all of us hardcore star wars builders would agree you will need to do just about all your custom work yourself. Print your own decals, kit bash detail parts other kits (just as ILM did), build your own details from evergreen stock.

There are endless posts on falcon builds on this site. You will see a great deal of self made upgrades. Just a few posts down is my Falcon build and Jakes Falcon build. Jake's tread is a fantastic example of what you can do with a bit of stock, a knife, and some glue.

Ozzman,
You're absolutely right. The more I'm looking at the various builds the more excited I'm getting about this project. I have a 3d printer so I'll be printing most of the parts and then make resin copies.

I have bid on a few 'junkyard' parts from Ebay so we'll see where this project takes me.

Thanks for the advice.

You have a 3d printer! Well then you have endless options.

Wow! Kit bashing, resin and a 3-D printer! I think you have a great arsenal of tools to start with! I think you will do just fine. ;)
