More recently, in the years 2000, a friend of mine, who had a comics/model shop, gave me a model kit he cannot sell : it lacks a plastic tree and kit parts in presence were not enough to do anything good. It was the VF-1J, transformable one, from Macross, 1/72 Bandai. I managed to find the missing parts but instead of building a transformable robot, I choose to give it the Battloid mode, and the Myria red look. Here is what I built some 6 or 8 years ago (can't remember exactly !).

As you can see it's fairly good for a model kit that age. Not as good as the Battloid from Hasegawa, with their square hands and magnificent details, but... Guys... It's anime ! Back in 1982, the robots were round and posed like human :D

The wings are not fonctionnals since it's a plastic card I carved to look like the original wings (using the clear plastic sold with the kit exposing some parts when you open the box). The feet are from another Valkyrie kit, 1/72, the opened ones from the Super Valkyrie Fighter (chrome version) in fact the gerwalk feet. So it can't be posed in another position than opened.

I managed to get another VF-1J (I already have done the white one with red strips for Rick Hunter), fully operationnal and presented to be the blue / Max version.
So stay tune for another Valkyrie mission of mine :D
