Agreed!
thank you both
not much in the way of an update just some new materials

the mig stuff cane new from an ebay seller. As did the white squadren putty
which i have never used before any advise welcome . I had only used milli putt / green stuff before now.
and the tamiya stuff came from a mate

Get yourself some acetone based fingernail polish remover to mix with the squadron putty. It will thin it down if it gets too dry. Also, it might shrink up a bit, so don't be surprised if you have to give it a second round of putty.

Ok update 4 mainly spent time like this
apply tape , putty said area, allow to dry, remove tape and file down any rough areas
rinse and repeat
only a bit more to do now before primer can be used

putty work

more putty work

the turret

mock up of the finished item (no wheels inside the tires)
more to come

ok update number 5
started to apply primer to the wheels and lower half

turret

the mess ( primer , wet sanding back more more putty work to finish filling the gaps, wet sanding that back and more primer)

vallejo dark sand applyed as a base coat for the bottom of the chassis
