A while ago , I picked up Revell's "Magnaguard Fighter " and "V-19 Torrent " fighter , not because I particularly like the design of the ships ( I didn't ) , but they were too big a bargain to leave in the store ! Anyway , as I've been in a "Star Wars Mood " , I took them off the shelf and had a closer look . As I put the Magnaguard Fighter together , the design began to grow on me , reminding me of the WW2 P38 "Lightning" . Obviously , this was intended , because as I did a little research , I discovered that the Fighters "real" designation was actually the P-38 ! It also struck me that in the Clone Wars show , Bounty Hunter Cad Bane uses one , named the "Xanadu Blood" . Why Revell didn't base the kit on this version is a bit of a mystery , as surely this would have been a more "saleable " option than the one they went with ? After all , this is what Hasbro did with their release of this ship . As I've said , the ship has grown on me and apart from the gimmicky "opening cockpit " feature , the kit builds up into a pretty good model . Here's were the "Xanadu Blood" stands so far .
There's a little more paint work to be done and I'm replacing some details with brass wire , but I'm pretty pleased with the results so far , considering it started off as a kit I had no intention of building !
