Continued effort on finishing up my WiP pile...

This time it's another Revell CF-188, but tiny. ;D

Last September, I started this kit along side my recently completed 1:72 build http://www.scalemodeladdict.com/index.php/topic,9336.0.html. I had a bunch of problems finishing the build. The main one that resulted in me shelving the build I had everything almost complete and I had messed up the decals. I put in a request to Revell for new decals, and they sent me a new sheet. :) I stripped the whole thing back to bare plastic and just last week started over with painting. Today I should be ready to start into the elaborate decal scheme.

More updates soon. Thanks for taking a look.

Nice paint J.

Elaborate decals you say, how about a teaser... Can we see the box art ?

Thanks guys.

Slowly working my way through the decals.

So small! Did you scribe the panel lines on that mini?

No. The panel lines are all recessed. The kit is really nice, much better in terms of fit and details than the Revell 1:72 kit. I'd recommend this kit - a much better build than the 1:144 Dragon kits I've built in the past. The Revell kit also comes with a very nice VFA-115 "Eagles" scheme that would be easier to paint and decal.

The decals don't quite fit all the surfaces. Also the model is very small so getting the decals to conform to the surfaces has been a challenge. Everything might not line up 100%. I've been trying to plan out the decals and place them in an order that aids getting everything to fit - but I think I'll still have to touch-up paint a lot of spots.

A fantastically relaxing Fathers Day. :)

I've got all the decals on now. On to detail painting and some more assembly.

That.....looks....stunning....great job. Can't wait to see the final pictures. How do you plan to weather it?

Nice painting on 1/144 scale model. I worked on this model also it fits well sidewinders needs some attention ;)

Very cool J. I love the maple leaf decals on the wings. Very nice finish considering the scale .

Thank-you guys. :)

I'm just starting the detail painting.

Right now I'm just using some Vallejo model washes, to fill in panel lines and apply some streaks. Normally in addition to an acrylic wash, I would use oils paints and chalks - not sure if I'll do it in this scale however. The streaks from the wash might be just enough...

One thing I'm not sure of is this;
She's a show planes right, so I should build it without any tanks or wingtip missiles. But it looks so boring. Load or not to load, that is the question.

Thanks again for the comments, I'm hoping to post some pictures soon.

Thats one good looking Tiny bird Jason ....Tidy work as usual too ,Love the decals !! ...reminds me ..I have an appointment with a Tiger meet Tornado soon !! :-X

Chris.

Thanks Q & Chris. :)
Chris - I also have a couple 1:72 German Tornados, one in the Black Panther scheme, the decals are crazy. Don't know what I was thinking when I bought that one... Is yours the 1:32 kit?

As for the CF-188, I've been chipping away at this a little bit this week. One more crazy week at work and then my summer holidays finally start. ;D

She's pretty much fully assembled now. I'm still debating putting on the wing pylons, the centreline tank and the wingtip missiles...Still have lots of touch-up painting and some additional detail painting to go also.

Thanks for taking a look. Comments always welcome.

Thanks again Q. :) How's the YF-23's coming? Hoping to see an update soon.
That's very kind of you Youli. :)

As for this build I'm hoping to wrap it up next week. My holidays start this Friday, so it souldn't be hard to do.
