Hi all,
this model was completed in December 2012 for a Viper GB on a German SciFi forum. The GB is still running.
http://www.phoxim.de/forum/index.php?board=111.0
The rules...
for the GB were/are quite simple ones:
>Build what you want, as long as its a Viper from BSG (Mk.I-VII - all is possible), and paint it like you want. One exception: the paint scheme is not meant to be a BSG one.
>You get a starting number. That number has to appear somewhere on your Viper, in my case it was No. 17. It appears on the base, as well as on its nose. By chance, on the tail too (the cross sum makes 17 as well!) but that was an incident so to say - I took this decal because of its Japanese signs.
Thats it for the rules - simple!
For I am slightly japanophile, I planned to create a green/grey version first, with loads of chipped color etc., but decided for a prototype color. Its orange, so its quite unordinary, but simple to paint. Some spare decals from a A6M3 Zero helped, too.
But: sometimes it happens that a project that I called "complete" when its done is not completed, because...
>Im unhappy with detailing/painting
>I find a spare part in my stash that fits in the scene/the model itself
>Im just in the mood to rework it
>someone gave me a hint that makes me going "YEAH!!! AWESOME!" or something like that.
In the case of the RJAF Viper Mk. II it was reason No. 2. I found a fuel hose in Fujimis Pit Stop Crew set. I own it because of its 1/20 scale - those figures are a good base to rework for Maschinenkrieger figures. The hose was too thick, so only the clip was used, the hose itself consists of round profile and lead wire.
Some words on the figures:
Those came from MasterBox (1/32 Famous Pilots Of WWII set, starring Saburo Sakai), Bronco (WAAF), ICM and Hornet (mechanic), and again... MasterBox (US Navy Officers, slightly reworked) and... of course MasterBox (dog).
Enjoy!
Thanks for watching!
Lucas.
