Here's a couple of 20 year old scratchbuilds I discovered in my loft , years after I thought they were long gone . To cut a long story short , they were originally built for a video/movie I was producing and so the level of detail and finish are not as "fine" as models produced purely for display . They have incurred some damage and loss of parts over the years , but these two models in particular are going to get some attention and I think I'll give them a bit of a re-vamp . 2013-08-21130802_zps33bca9aa.jpg

These are some cool designs :)
So what happened to the movie/Video? Did anything get beyond the initial planing stage?

I look Forward to see what wonders your revisit will do to These :)

Quite a lot of groundwork or pre-production was done , in total about 2 years worth , but this was before the "digital revolution" and in spare time/evenings when I was running a production company full time as well , so any work done exists on good old floppy discs and on VHS tapes ! I often think of getting my act together ( as well as other people involved in the production , who still work in media and the video game industry ) and trying to get it back on track , but real life takes up most of my time ! Who knows , maybe it'll happen one day . ;)

The first ship was literally a "background model" and was more a piece of set dressing , built in an evening ( more or less) and the design reflects this . I remember taking a little inspiration from one of the early Star Wars "Technical Manuals" ( I was waiting for someone to point this out ! ) and it was originally painted in a beige/cream paint scheme , mainly to distinguish it from the rest of the craft ( the standard grey/whites ) and to distance it from Star Wars and Star Trek . (I've given it a quick re-paint as the original paint was flaking badly and made the model look more beaten up than it actually is ). I plan on taking it back "full circle" and re-branding it as some kind of Star Wars Republic/Imperial Troop Carrier . The second ship was more of a featured ship in the story and was one of two built ( there was a larger version which represented two ships ), the "Early Bird II" and the "Tweety Pie". This one was mainly used for longer shots and so wasn't as detailed ( it's also lost a lot of bits and bobs over the years ) . It's an "Osprey Class" Work/Maintenance Shuttle and it was used in the building and maintenance of ships , space stations and any off world/orbital facilities . It's ugly , ungainly, but meant to be , as due to developments of the plot , ends up as a bit of a "hero craft" . The "Little Engine That Could", you could say . I'll most likely spruce it up with a better paint job ( in the flesh , it's pretty rough ) and add some details .;)

A little more renovation done on the "Republic Troop Transport" . I've added landing gear and repainted the model with some light grey I had handy . Unfortunately , the paint in some areas is making the panel detail a little soft ( it was originally sprayed with car paints , so the paint is getting a little thick , here and there !) and is actually beginning to "raise" a little , but short of stripping it all and starting over ( which , to be honest , I'm not really prepared to do ) , there's not a lot I can do about it . As I'm rubbing down with light sanding pads between coats , it's not a problem as such and any problem areas I can always disguise with weathering and damage ! ( The "universal get -out" of the Star Wars modeller ! )
The area at the rear of the ship , including the engine "nozzles" are next to get some attention . Maybe it'd benefit from some like on the "Arrowhead" Fighter I previously built ? ( They could be from the same manufacturer , after all !) ;)
