Dave (smusno) asked to see more of this model, so here she is mate :)

Took around 7 months to build, with a couple of corrections (deflector trench, nacelle pylons, missing windows etc) and was a royal pain to paint. Sit's on the shelf next to my first Enterprise D :D

Comments/questions are very welcome as always

p.s
The pics are quite large, mods please let me know if they need to be resized

She's a real beauty. I'm guessing this is the AMT kit? Got one of these in my stash. Hope it turns out half as good as yours.

:'(

we wants it, we HAAASSSSS to have it.

The precious.

I actually have one of my transformer fans banging on at me to build an 'E'. But, intill mine would look like that, im not even going to try.

574.6/10, 2 gold stars and a mars bar.

Thanks everyone :)

It's the 1/1400 AMT re-pop that came out a while ago, and my 2nd attempt at lighting kits up. Mostly LED strips and a cannibalised pulsating LED circuit from a spinning top to try to replicate the bussard "flowing" effect (which actually kind of works!)

Here's a link to the WIP photobucket album:

I'll probably have another crack at this kit after finishing the Generations D, but do the Nemesis version (if I dont get my hands on a Batpod, Tumbler and Bat-figures first!!)

Cheers

the word "inspirational" gets bandied about quite a bit.

but this really is, inspirational.

This guy is so humble it's not even funny. Those aren't decals or anything, it was painstakingly masked and painted.

Absolutely flawless job. This is the best amt enterprise I've ever seen.

 Wowzers! That is a fantastic E-E! Well done sir. Love the pics of it in the dark. Can just see her cruisin' through uncharted space.

Right, you android making buffoon!

Ive bought one. The kit seems to dry fit nicely. And I have some white led tape coming over from the USofA.

It all seems to make sense.

But................

The engine pylons aren't hollow? How am I going to route the wire? There are going to be 3 different colours! And im going to have to use a 3mm 3.2 white, a 3mm 2.4 red, and some blue 12v strip?

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!

Rightyo, been a couple of years since I built this but I think it went like this:

Shave/cut a shallow trench, about 15mm wide, running up the inside faces of all the pylon parts and cut away part of the mounting "tab" that slots into the engineering hull to allow the wires access

Then get some ribbon cable (from an old pc motherboard or hard drive IDE cable) and cut a length that will reach from the keel of engineering, up the pylon and well into the nacelle. I used a strip with 10 strands of wire (per nacelle) and then seperated those into pairs that would carry different voltages for the led's and strobes up in the nacelle

You dont need to take alot of material out from the inside of the pylons, they should flex enough to fit the ribbon cable between them, but use a hot glue that welds the parts together so there's no risk of them popping apart again at the seams!

That should give you plenty of options for voltages, stobe signals, effects etc. You can always use more strands on your cable if you aint got enough!
