They do pop up in various places, yes. But having the original (or at least, a scan of it) is much better than just the drawings.
The books are very well researched, and each comes with colour chips of paint he mixed to match (as closely as possible) original samples he unearthed.

But I have a good memory for which books I read things in, and approximately where in those books — but really only when I can leaf/flip through them, which somehow makes me recognise I'm probably in the right area by what the pages look like. This came in especially useful back when I played RPGs a lot
