F2G Corsair conversion

Hey guys, this is my first forum post. I have an F2G Corsair build underway. Ive just completed fabrication of the landing gear & ready for paint. Anyone know what color F2G's had on their gear? Some research indicates light gray while others suggest aluminium or even the same color as the belly. Any help would be great.

Regarding the landing gear, I'd go based on the corsair your researching. I built a hellcat based on a photo and stuck to it. Or base your corsair on a squadron. If my advise doesn't suit you, go with your gut.

I could be wrong on this, but I believe most planes of WWII that were used in the Pacific theater had landing gear that were painted. Most all surfaces were painted to lesson corosion. Especially Naval planes. When I build I usually go by a specific photo of the plane I am replicating just as Fork Virus stated. The great thing about scale modeling though is, it becomes your world, everyone else is just living in it!

I agree with you both to make the color based on my reference picture and i would if i were using one. The problem is i haven't decided on a scheme yet and all the references I've found are black and white. Guess ill just pick a color & go with. Thanks fellas
