Hi Guys
Really got the abandoned car bug at the moment and picked this kit up for a bargain so it seemed rude not to!
I fancy hiding this one in an old tumbledown garage, not too much rusting on the car, but plenty of weathering/fading. I will have parts of the garage open/broken showing glimpses of the car from different angles.
I put the car together in about an hour flat, there's no engine to worry about so assembly was easy. Then I worked out how everything was going to go together around the car, the garage will be a lean to affair against an old brick wall.
The wall size was cut from stiff card then I cut individual bricks from foam board, making sure there was some random difference in brick sizes and stuck a layer to the card with white glue, ran a bead of wall filler across the top, then the next layer pressed to the filler and stuck again with white glue, and repeat, repeat, repeat.... on both sides of the card to give a double layered wall!
Side 1
Side 2
I then painted the wall with orange acrylics mixed with some whites and greys to give a natural look. Then almost a disaster... I washed the whole thing with an AK brown wash to tie it together but where the wash hit the foam it began to melt! Luckily I had thoroughly coated the wall with acrylics so it only affected a few spots and actually added to the worn look, phew!
Here are some close ups of the brick, in some photos you can see individual bricks have melted
The frame of the garage was built from balsa and glued together to hold the wall up
And a quick view with the Ferrari in place
There will be more to come soon, thanks for looking!
