Here is a "simple" project I thought about last year. A friend neighbour needed me to give some advise about ink for his printer. I checked and bought a couple of ink cartridges but kept the packaging.

And why ?
Because it made me think about the Gonk/power droid from Star Wars.

And first I thought using some pencils parts and stuff...

But then a friend of mine gave me some old scientific devices and it was just perfect. Just check it out ! A big old electric wire and "voila" :D

The void could have been the perfect place to glue the feet, but I changed my mind...

And the feet will not be those. You'll see.

Last 3 weeks I was in the Pyrenee mountains, in the south of France.
I managed to bring with me some tools, paint and stuff to fix some objects there and it was but fair that I could continue building some of my projects. The Gonk Droid was in my luggages.

THe leg were more fragile than expected so I had to cut the ringed pipe in half and changed the electric wire for a longer one and put all this in place. I cut two holes for the legs, and glued with Cyanolite.

Will the glue dried I inserted some metal pieces taken from... Old TV set. In my neighborhood old TV set are destroyed by some people to take the copper wires so there's parts here and there. Not very ecological. But, as far as I'm not the one destroying TV... :D

The electric Wire didn't want to stay put so I glued another thing in there but I think I will add something more, later...

I choose some other stuff to make the feet, it was just perfect fitting with the leg and easy to connect with the electric wire. I placed another "thing" but I don't know the english term for the moment (will edit it later if I can :D )

And here goes the Gonk Droid ready to walk through the room...

It's not over yet. I need to secure the glue part inside and add some details here and there before painting.

I hope you enjoyed this "little" project...

Awesome!
I've always liked this little bud, from the first time I've seen ANH.
And You are doing a great job on him, Youli. Can't help admiring your skills of finding proper form for modeling in every day life's stuff surrounding us :)

Thanks. It's no big deal since I was used to "see" or "watch" over objects in order to create toys of my own since I couldn't afford to buy any of what I wanted in the 70's and even the 80's.
I built the Phoenix from Battle of the planets, the Scout Walker, a borgified Jabba (!) and many droids and characters to play with ! Modified (custom one may note) playmobils to do some "Once upon a time... Space" characters, and so on...

And since I saw, in my young age, what you can do with skills and a lot of imagination over plastic bottles and stuff, it was a good exercise to "look after" possibilities in every day objects.

:D

My droid evolved as well as it was expected. I Added a plastic U profile around it Plus glued on two metallic ribbons.
Added some details and get a coat of white primer spray can on it.

Some pictures soon. Stay tune. :D

It can't be... Gimme your name, or whatever pseudo you're registrated on FB and I'll send you an invitation. But you have to be registrated first :D

(I clicked and it worked just fine with me :D)

I am registered and I'm also currently logged in and I get the same thing.

Maybe you have it restricted to friends only?

Hum... Some albums are restricted but I don't think I did it for this one...

Check...
Check...
(yawnnnnnn...)
Check...

Damn, you are RIGHT !
Thanks for the tip Ken ! :D

Great project! Very cool to see everyday items used.

My thoughts exactly...
Have to give you guys some news about my Twin pods/Cloud car by the way. :D

OK

The Gonk droid.
Here I am for the moment.

The edgeds were completed with brass metal and details were added near the feet.

A white primer from Prince August is sprayed over... The sensor is made from a toy part, never founded the right shape to do anything that good.

Later, before the convention, I managed to do some painting, very crude one, to the exhibition.

Youlie, that is rather cool!
Maybe not exactly the Power droid we know from Star Wars, but maybe a cousin. :)

Yep, a Cousin that has one of his parent a Cylon. :D
