Thanks Baron! I've done a bunch of research looking up John Thach. That guy has accomplished a lot! If I can't find decals for the Fighting Three (VF-3) I'll probably stick with the markings for the VF-22 on the USS Independence with the later three color scheme.

OMG! So I'm putting on some decals and was waiting for the sides of the fuselage decals to dry. I'm all into this history channel show about the Hittites and Greeks great battle I wasn't paying attention to where I was putting my fingers when I was holding the model when taking out Blu-Tac from the windows below.

I ended up completely smooshing the decals. So I have to order a new set aftermarkets and repair the paint jobs and slap them back on. Hopefully they are the same color as the one that comes in the kit.

So right now the model looks like this:
