Hi everybody!
I've been subscribed to ScaleModeAddict on YouTube for quite some time and now, with the beginning of the groupbuilds, I decided to finally join the Herd. ;D

My Name is Sarah, I'm 31 and loctated in Germany (north-western part of it, to be exact). As a huge sci-Fi fan I started building some spaceship models, when I was in my teens. One should say I crudely massacred them. I had build the odd little plane as a kid but they where even worse :-\

I had not done any modelling for years when I started painting miniatures, for Pen and Paper RPGs first, then for fun and later for actually playing some tabletops. I've been quite addicted to that for the last decade or so, figmentia it is called or so I believe. Browsing Youtube for painting videos I finally stumbled over ScaleModelAddict, I think via SM/WGconsortium. Many Thanks to Chung!

Since many supplies one needs to build a model I already had, I decided to try something. Unfortunately sci-fi models are quite hard to come by over here or should I say expensive. Luckily my local hobby shop started carrying the new Round2 stuff.
Right now I'm working on a F/a 18-E Superhornet (1/72 Revell), a Space Shuttle Transport (Academy) which sucks, yes Badgrendels warned us, and a 51 d Mustang. I have the 1/650 original Enterprise on the shelf but I want to wait and practice before I ruin that one too. My airbrushing skills especially need improvement badly. I'm sure I can get some tips on that and other stuff here.

So I'm excited to follow the Millenium Falcon group build. Unfortunately I can't take part, because a, right now my models still are not near good enough and b, I need to get my hands on an affordable Falcon.

So, thank you for staying with me through my attempt on a novella.

Greeting und Tschüss, Sarah.

Welcome to the herd Sarah! Looking forward to seeing your builds and ask questions everyone is here to help!

Welcome to the Herd!
I like building sci-fi, monsters, dinosaurs, warbirds, and plenty of other things. Yes, this is a very helpful community!
;D

Hello and Welcome!

a Space Shuttle Transport (Academy) which sucks, yes Badgrendels warned us

I am glad that I am not the only one that found this a sucky model.

Many thanks to all of you!

@grendels
Maybe I'm a bit of masochist or just plain stupid, but I had seen your videos before and picked it up anyway. The thing is, it was the only space related model in the store and in my budget, it was dirtcheap really. I told myself that I could practice seamfilling, sanding and stuff and wouldn't mind, if anything went wrong. First, I do mind anyway and second it sucked even harder than it appeared, when you built it. I filled in the upper deck windows to match the original and the contours still show under the primer. I could go on but then, you know that piece of ... :-[

Tschüss, Sarah.

Chris.

Welcome to the herd, Sarah. Trust me when I say, you're in the right place. Lots of great tips and helpful folks around here like Mr. Grendels.

welcome abord Sarah, im not into building the spacy things but i do like to look at them.

Hi!
Many thanks again for the warm welcome guys!

I took some photos of my current builts today. Maybe I open a WIP-thread tomorrow after work. I managed to prime my Superhornet today. I rewatched DreamKnight's tutorials on airbrushing yesterday evening and I am quite pleased with the job I did. Higher pressure and more distance to the model really changed things.

@spud So, I build not only spacy things (see Hornet) but they are sure my main interest
Greetings und Tschüss, Sarah.

hehe thats good to know at least you have other subjects to build :)

Yes I know that Piece of .....

I have another one on my shelf...

I did the same thing you are doing. Took a look and said it isn't going to be a good model, but it will give me a lot of practice. I am now much better at seam filling than I was before.

When you can post some work! We will all love to see it.

Hi Sarah, welcome at SMA. Glad to have you here.
