For your previewing pleasure! Jimi sent me the casts for these a few weeks ago and I got soooo excited I just had to start them! They’ve been in this state for a little bit now because I JUST got permission to post these. (thx jimi!!). I’ll try and make some time to get them buttoned up reeeaal soon here.

The kit comes with parts to make either variant. The engine nozzles, bridge, tip and main hull are the same for both. Not included are the little wires and needles for the antennas and such...

the only issue (that's my design fault) is the joint where the head meets the neck. it needs just a touch of putty and sanding.

thanks! but no, not for gaming. they are in scale with the Ertl Star Destroyer and my Venator and Dreadnaught kits. There's also a few other support ships in the same scale. My aim is to flush out the fleets in the scale. :D

Oh kewl! I wasn't aware of that. What are these ship's roles?
Can you post a pic or two of them next to the Star Destroyer?

While the final photo shoot raw images are processing, I figured I would share some of the in-progress painting pics.

After the preshading and base of light gray (straight from the bottle, no mix) I decided to give them a heavy wash of MiG Productions cool gray. The wash is a pretty good effect for most ships, but you have to be careful for these smaller scale capital ships mostly because it tends to look a little out of scale and heavy handed. So even though the wash was cleaned up pretty well, I decided to tone it down a bit. To do this I mixed up some Tamiya flat white with thinner (1:1 mix ratio) and did some nice and even misting on both of them. Not only did it tone down the wash like I had hoped, it gave a more properly “Imperial” color tone to the ships. Final touches for painting were a little bit of silver on the antennas, some heavy chrome inside the engines with clear blue over it and some silver drybrushing. For weathering I used a stiff brush and some sooty-colored pastels.
