It's been a long time since I've posted :p
I figured I wouldn't post anything till I was done or near-done with sumtin and this one is done there I think .

don't see many Camels in the forums or really on Earth or the interwebs for that matter . Not no.how like the AFS ,s
I don't know why -- I really want to do another using LEDs .

This is the electronic warfare version of the Camel , The Giraffe .

Still a long bit to go . A good bit of scratch-building ahead

The feets have magnets to stick it to it's base - 1/4 " American Steel ( hard as all Ell . I don't remember what it fell from .... ) :

Kinda Sorta the tanks going up top . plus hoses and cool stuff :

20151026_193242_zpsmfjamocg.jpg

20151026_193437_zpsfmutkfap.jpg

I've got to finish up the top-side of the fuselage and build a cage ( rack ) to carry an additional 'BiC' tank aft .

And 'weathering' , moon weathering . Sooty . Plus scratches , dents -- I see these things as def modular . So the cockpits would be coupled to different fuselages depending . so lot's of dings from the hanger activity .

------- I looked over Apollo photos . And the moon is dirty . ------

Then the Piece de Resistance -- a dynamic assembly that replaces the laser weapon with one more to the mission ...... :-X

..... and the little man . the pilot . I'm not using the helmet so I did some carving around the neckline ;)

Oh , and the monitor in the cockpit . I think I'm on round six trying to make that thing work

Hope Ya'll dig it . All comments about everything welcome and desired
More pics soon

Cheers ,
Uru

;D Thanks Grendels . Hope to get some more pics up tonight ,
You familiar with this kit ?
I never see em -- even over on Krueger's site . I think the last one posted over there is from 2 years ago .

I assume the weather is just as righteous there as over here !

Ciao

Thanks , Ohm
Ever build this thing ?

And -some progress --- I continue to seem to need to do things 3-5 times to get them right .

working on the top side .

This is a curious kit . Like Kow got it to about 90 % developed then got bored and Hasegawa took it to production .
There's lots of hoses that have no real terminus at one or both ends . Just holes that are not even round - just ugly slots .
Tons of potential .

Good example is this top 'thing' -- that I've decided is a fueling port -- doesn't sit flush as produced so it makes no sense .
so I drilled out the 10 support pins and added a fuel line connector with a knurled drive ring :

20151030_112224_zps0ca3kgur.jpg
20151030_112331_zpsr0ocmr1s.jpg

Starting on the rack to carry the additional 'BiC' fuel tank that will be connected via external fuel line on the port side to the BiC mounted underside

BiC tank will sit a bit further forward than this once the brackets and cross-members are fitted to the rack :

20151031_122154_zpsetnin4zf.jpg

Added dorsal nozzles

20151031_122239_zpsgobcibmb.jpg

I replaced all the external hoses with AM mesh hose ( Model Factory Hiro and Tuner Model Manufactory ) and added terminals

20151031_132722_zpsosyecmqf.jpg

And added some mass to the cockpit struts :
( Again , the hoses go to nowhere as produced )

Ciao,
Uru

I have not built this kit. I don't even have one in the stash. I've got a few other MaK kits though, also unbuilt.

I like your resourcefulness with those disposable lighters!

What are you building now ? , Ohm .

I really like the Grosser Hund .
I'm putting together a dio using two and a KUSTER and a bunch of mechanics --- people are the hardest

So :D

I did this :

Then this :

20151101_113814_zps5wei4ljf.jpg

and now I'm working with the layout of these :

I think the secondary BiC tank should be mounted lower :

? Maybe :p

20151101_144033_zpszycrihja.jpg

Maybe extend the rack around to form a cage at the back ?? ???

Thoughts ?

Anyone out there ever build this thing ?
;D

... BTW - I highly recommend these PE loops for placing CA

They rock .
Try em if you have not

.. Or maybe :

OR ( with the BiC tank sitting straight .. ::) )

I Kinda Like this very last assemblage

LOooks MOoore like a frog than a Kamel .

She'll soon get her ECM package to replace the laser which will tie in to the Giraffe name ,

Uru

I do have one in the stash, but I have never built one.

I like the tanks parallel....

And the weather here is as horrible as it is where you are...

Horrible weather ? Sarc ???

Absolutely gorgeous here rite now --- no more rain for a while though , please

So you like all the tanks parallel to each other , huh ?
..
:p

prob post some more pics tonight ,

Very cool modifications! I like your imagination with this kit.

I have one in my stash, too, but I have some other things to finish before I break this one out and start it. I'd like to light the cockpit, too.

It's totally up for lighting , Baron !

Good candidate for fiber-optics ;D

I'd put some headlamps on the legs where , again , it seems unfinished -

atop that square hollow at the head of the cylinder :

Mother Nature :

Might still be there --- Warming up I guess . That was a fresh pile ;D ;)

I picked up some of this earlier . looking for a decent primer ,, Texas Art doesn't carry Vallejo ( ? )

I've never used Createx . 20151102_125802_zpssu5cso7v.jpg
Any tips , if any ?
Please do tell .

Thanks ,
Uru

This is the first photo of it that I saw .
I think 3 years ago ?
months before it was released .

Even here -- it's not complete .
There are no hoses at the front of the feet so the 'T' just hangs .
;D ;D

The next one , LED 'd out , I want to paint like this

I'm finishing up an O scale caboose replica. Totally non Science Fiction and I didn't even make a BLOG here at SMA, which I should have.

Anyway… are those copper pipe cradles for the various tanks? Nice work.

I can relate to those super glue applicators. I've made a few from looped wire and sewing needle eye ends.

your fuel tank composition
I like the parallel, clustered look

Starting on the replacement for the laser
seen here hanging off the right side of the cockpit :

Way too much sawing by hand :p

I like running the 6.5" trim saw blades on my table saw for all kinds of hobby cutting .
The Diablos , especially , have a super thin kerf .

Hey Ohm !

Just saw your post
I guess I was posting the same time as you ,

Yeah -- I cut up some 1/2 copper pipe -- It was the only thing on site that had the dimension I wanted .

So - you like all the tanks running parallel to one another also ,

Interesting ;D

Ciao

This S4 doesn't like to focus close up

I miss my old Samsung Infuse with the old 10.3 MP camera -- that camera and its software rocked .

The electromagnetic doughnut ( mag-nut ? ) on the port leg has been bothering me .
It was the very first thing scratched when only the legs were being built .

The wiring to it was way too rigid ,,, it needs to drape
So I'm thinking something closer to :

What's the material you used for the hoses on the legs/feet:

urumomo said:

Is that from the model car aisle, or are those shoe laces? I ask, because I've noticed that some varieties of shoe laces look like they'd make great insulated hoses in 1/20 scale, but I haven't tried the idea out yet.

Hey , Baron ! ;D

I'm using a combination of Tuner Model Manufactory ( yes , modelmanufactory) and Model Factory Hiro 1 , 1.2 & 1.5 mm mesh hose .

Both sourced from Hobby Link Japan .

The Tuner hose ( the 3 center and right in that pic ) is actual woven hose but the MFH hoses are solid construction with a convincing texture , with a wire armature core making them very positional .

The woven hoses are more convincing in my opinion but easily flatten when you attempt to bend them into position , requiring various pinching and squeezing to get em to stay round -ish ;)

Shoe and boot laces make Fantastic!TM mesh hoses .,, some better than others and usually only for heavy lines @ 1/20 scale .
I used a bootlace on my flamethrower GrosserHund that's buried way back on page who knows ::) here @ SMA

Cheers
