I thought I posted it but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, or never did it...

Anihow here is the Revell big Millenium Falcon. I found it on a flee market for 5 euros 2 years ago. A bargain. It was already built but I immediatly know that I needed to update it with details here and there and, obviously, give it a good weathering.

So I did.

The figures are in rubber but really don't care. It's too small to be cared of.

A dark and brown wash to begin with...

All in all, a good result.

Some painting later, copper, drak grey and many citadel inks later... I thought it was too dark so I'll give it a white spray from a distance.

I found a plastic grill (the one you place in a window or a door to ventilate a room) and immediatly thought about something...

I wanted to modify the engines and "voila" !

Mandibles are details free so I added some tank parts (T-34 1/48 from academy), and stuff...

The frond of the mandibles are flat, in "reality" it's not. So some cutting later here we are...

Since I lost the clear parts in, I opened up and glued the engine for good.

I replaced some details, the main access is here but awful. I cut some parts and added a plastic grill taken from a window (train diorama).

I added some really tiny details on the falcon, still from the T-34.

The laser canons are AWFULS. I couldn't possibly let this that way so I scratched some with WHK weapons and a... Straw.

I simply carved some details for the cannon below since we'll never really see it.

The edge of the grill is completed with a Hyaku SHiki 1/100 part.

The gears are so-so but I could manage to add some cables. Simple enough. With the snap tite method didn't have to glue anything at all.

A picture just to compare the surface weathered and "in" without paint... I think it's good.

Some panels are re-painted with dark grey, dark red, rust, yellow and tire black. Will do a dry brush with white later to blend this. And then washes...

Only 3 gears to this Falcon. It's the A New Hope Versio all right... :D

The dry brush worked perfectly but some washes is needed to rise up some details.

If there is something to modify urgently on this Falcon is the main dish.

I took some parts from an old Heller model kit, a Formule One, some boats pilones and a metallic circle...

More details with plastic and mettalic rodes.

Painted the lower canon to make the illusion there is 4 tubes.

Once painted, the engine grill look even better.

More details on the trenches of the ship... You can find those on your regular plastic trees. Keep it, save it !

The dish is not perfect but details are better, and more like the original filming model.

Some boats details are used here...

Small plastic parts, rectangular and square, taken from plastic trees are added to provide details on the falcon surface.

A mettalic part is added around the cockpit.

The result is so far so good and may proove that you can do great things out of the Revell model kits. :D

This is an interesting idea, buying a finished kit and fixing it up. Gives you a chance to practice scratch building and painting without sweating through the entire build! I'll keep this one in mind. Thanks CR

Big improvement on what you bought from the flee market. Nice work, Youli! 8)

Thanks guys :D
