So, It's a favorite pastime of mine to build military model kits while watching war films. My favorite, although it is fiction, is the film Where Eagles Dare. I've built a couple JU52's and probably 10 Kubelwagens over the decades while watching this film. There's something about the adverse cold weather and snow and the vehicles or aircraft that dig deep inside me.

I do love some of the modern films like Saving Private Ryan, the Kettenkraftrad scene is epic. Don't stress the Tiger tank details..

And of course the series Band of Brothers. But more importantly to me; The Pacific series. Since I am from a family of Marines. 2 of my uncles served in the Marines in WWII. My father, brother, and my son were Marines. But, alas, the Band of Brothers was a better series.

I built a 1/35th M3 Grant or Lee tank "Lulubelle" While watching the original Sahara film.

So, the question is... Do you watch films while scale modeling? Which is your Favorite?

Be Well. Model on.

Nah, I don't watch movies while I'm building. That would be too distracting. Maybe if I have to hold some parts that I have glued together and I can't use tape or clamps I'll watch something on the telly while I wait for the glue to harden, but that's it.

Interestingly I haven't seen a movie that have inspired me to build something either. Since I'm a movie fan and I build models I really should be but... no. Except for Porco Rosso! I love that film! And finally found a model of his plane in a model shop in Taipei, Taiwan, some time ago.

If you're into WW II movies I could recommend Unknown soldier (Tuntematon sotilas), about the fighting between Finland and the Soviet Union during the war. It's based on a novel, it's been adapted three times, the version I've seen is the 2017 one. (Since I am from a family of people fighting for their independence during the war.)
