Hi everyone!

I have started building model railroad building kits one year ago. I don't have a layout yet but it will come.

I decided to try scale modeling too. During a pandemic, what terrific hobbies to have (scale modeling and model railroading). A few years ago, I have built only a small ww2 german fighter but I was too afraid to paint it. I am also interested in world war II history and I would like to discover board and miniature wargaming.

I am very happy to be part of this forum.

I have not seen a section about trains on this forum. Is there a place where I could post on the structures I am building for my future model railroad?

Unfortunately for the question, I can't answer. I am still a newbie on the topic and there is way too much I can absorb in one year ;)

Bizarre! I have an earlier post on this thread that is awaiting approval from an administrator but the last post I made is more recent and was already accepted.

Here is what I see on the earlier post:

"This message is awaiting moderator approval, and is invisible to normal visitors."

Is there something I should do?

We have no moderators here , only the proprietor Blackbeard .
You can send him a message and ask .
Click the envelope icon - at the upper right next to the notifications bell on desktop view .

Thanks. I just sent him a message. I don't know if he will reply because, under his username, it says; glue sniffer ;)

I think your missing post just turned up :D - up this page , in it's proper chronology .
I have no idea what occurred . Possibly just a technical glitch .

Yes , there is no section dedicated to RR builds , unfortunately .

Welcome to the hobby and welcome to the Herd, Stephan! I look forward to seeing your builds!

Best regards,
Brad

A lot of vignette and diorama building has a lot of cross over with train buildings and scenery.
I look forward to seeing some projects!

Hello Stephan!

Glad to hear there are others who enjoy building model railroad structures! I've been a fan of model railroad structure kits since I was a wee lad, and have been building them now for over fifty years.

I enjoy building kits from the "classic" German companies: Faller, Kibri, Vollmer, Pola, Wiad, Vau-Pe.

I discovered long ago that I like building the structures more than I liked running trains, so I basically build these structures now as "stand-alone" models, and display them just for their beauty.

If I can dig up pictures of some of my builds I'll try to post them here. I would like to see some of your projects as well. Best of luck to you - there is nothing like model-making to offset the stresses of the world!

Here are a few pix of a WIAD #305 Schotterwork (Grain Elevator), on my long-defunct HO layout. Built this about thirty years ago.. I would paint it differently today, but it's a classic structure from WIAD, one of their earliest releases.

Hi Brad. Thank you. I have just posted a few pictures of my built in the dioramas section. Here is the link:

You are perfectly right about the cross over between the two.

I have just posted a few pictures of my built in the dioramas section.

Hi fellow model railroader ;)

I also really like to built structures but my goal is to create a model railroad layout eventually.

Check the thread I have just created in the dioramas section. I have posted a few photos of my built.

Aaaahhh, I really like your photos. That's exactly what I want. To create a little imaginary village and run my train, bring cars to an industry and look at the landscape.
