Hey all, so I have been getting ready to bust into my 1/72 Jagdtiger and for this kit plan on doing a complete by the numbers build as defined in the box. However the issue i have is that I have chosen to use Vallejo as my paint product of choice. The instructions offer Paint ID's for Hobbby Colour, Mr. Color, and Model Master. I have tried to find a usable paint conversion tool online but have not been able to find one that works.

For example I try to cross reference MM #1415 Steel and there is no referenced color to match for Vallejo.

To further my struggle i do not have a local Hobby shop to go to so i can compare. All my purchasing will be done online for paints.

Are there tools or tricks you 'ol timers have?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provde.

Thanks

Hey there Hook,

Go to this website: http://www.paint4models.com/

Then click on "Launch the Ultimate Paint Conversion Chart"

It will open another window, once loaded is a big chart of paint conversions. At the bottom, you can "turn on" or "turn off" various brands of paint to compare. The FS numbers are always the default...can't turn those off.

So all you have to do is turn on Vallejo, and one of the other lines the instructions call for, and viola.

You may have to play around with the order in which it displays the paints.

For example if you had Vallejo and Mr. Color up....at the top of the header for the Mr. Color numbers, click on the header where it says "Mr. Color", then click on the box right beside it (should have a 1 and an arrow in it) and it will bring up the numbers in reverse order. Find your number, then scroll to the left to see the equivalent Vallejo color.

You can also click on a specific color, and a color chip bar will pop up at the bottom of the screen to give you a sample representation of what the color should look like.

Takes some getting used to, to find what you want, but once you figure it out, its easy and a great system!
