Hi guys,
This is my italeri 1/35 elephant that i build as try out for my secret santa build.
And that one it is the recovery vehicle version of this one. (its a dragon kit) I dont want to mess that up so some practise
was what i needed i found the italeri kit for a good price at a lhs and of in to the basement.

This is my first try at hairspray chipping and also the sponge technique.
Please tell me what you think i can do for improvements! dont be shy im a big boy ok!

Not a lot to improve there my friend! Maybe some rust streaks from the sponge chipped areas?

Ok consider that done ;D (well by next week or so) does it look to green to you?
I think i my oil wash was a little heavy on the green side.

Zappa, from the pictures it looks great. I love the overall look. So how was the kit overall?

Hi woyroy,
The italeri kit is not bad at all i would say it went together quite good actually. Now i do not no if this kit is accurate in scale size etc etc (i dont really care that much :)) but i also have to say that i have never build a dragon kit before so,
my opinion about this italeri elephant its bang for the buck.

Zappa, I'm with you on the size and all. If it looks like a tank it's a tank. I can live if it's a cm short. After all who's coming to my house to measure my builds :D

I have built a old Tamiya Pz. II, Pz. V (WIP), M-551 (WIP), Hanomag 250 (WIP), RoG Pz.I and Academy's Stug IV (WIP). I have 14 Dragen kits in the stash. Someday I will get to build one. First I need to finish the WIP armor ;D

Look forward to your next build.

Im not really an expert but, yes, I have to agree with John about the streaking...

Apart from that ... BEAUTIFUL
IMO, I love that green-ish wash ... makes it looked like the dark yellow was bleached by the sun

It looks so natural. I think it would be hard to improve on it, and not ruin the look.

i agree with the herd i see no place that you have gone wrong bud and see a cracking build

Thanks bullet 21!
I'll post some pics in the secret santa build thread later this week of the berge tiger.

Very nice Elefant you got there. Very impressive result using that oldie.

Did you only wash the vehicle with the greenish wash or have you done oil dot streaking as well? Can't tell from the pictures.

Thanks Faust!
I did a greenish wash over the whole vehicle and then some streaks to but very minimal, i will do some more rust streaking where I did the sponge chipping as suggested by John Simmons.

Zappa

Ok cool. That green wash looks pretty good. Maybe if you are doing the streaking you could think about doing the oil dot filter thingy with some light colors like titanium white and yellow/light brownish colors. Which you pull downwards with a soft damp brush. You get really neat rainstreaks that will make the large panels of that vehicle even more interesting then they already are.

Faust thanks for that suggestion I was actually thinking about that, I'll do the rust streaks first let it sit for a day or two and then some rain streaks.

I'm still learning all these weathering techniques thanks for the help guys!!!

cool work mate! Always makes me a bit nostalgic when seeing an Elefant/Ferdinand 'cause' it was my second build and the first one (and only so far) to be published in a mag.

Yours looks great, really love the paintwork and chipping dude!

Cheers

Thanks wouter, I found your of the elefant build on the interwebs last week when I was looking at other elefants ;D
