PE question about annealing

So I will be getting all the Paragraphix PE sets for the 1/350 TIS Enterprise. I have used PE before, but only once did I try annealing. I used my then stove and held the sheets over the hot element with pliers till they discolored. It didn't go that well. The brass annealed but was so discolored I couldn't clean the parts up and paint barely covered the discoloration.

So the question is, what is the best way to anneal PE?

You really only need to anneal curved parts , and even then ...
Get one of those electric hotplates .
Fine grit sandpaper will remove surface issues --- sounds like you cooked the hell out of that PE with a dirty flame .

I used an electric stove. That is why I was stunned at what happened.

Anyhow, I will check out that link.
