I finished this one up several months ago. Just finally took some pics today. Unfortunately I was losing my sun so the pics aren't the greatest.

Exellent work fella ,great finish ..looks well tired :)

Chris.

Is this based off a actual vehicle? Just curious as I have never heard of a pink scheme by the Germans.

Looks great! I have the same kit half built...lost interest in it. Should dig it out again.

It looks like an Allied invasion star on the hood, so I assume this is captured and no longer in German service which would also explain the desert pink scheme ;)

...but I coul be wrong.

Yes this is a fictional vehicle that is suppose to be captured by the Allies. I like the idea of some guys finding some cans of pink paint in an abandoned store or barn and painting their captured Steyr pink for fun. Wouldn't that be a kick for everyone to see?

I mostly liked the idea of disempowerment. I've painted the White House pink once or twice as well. ;D

Modelfreak, thank you.

Bizzare, it's all done, I'm fine with it the way it is. Thanks for the suggestion.

:)Noname, I like this kind of ideas and "material exchange" / "under new management" a lot.

I suppose that being pink... it has happened in North Africa Theater... maybe? or just after German capitulation?? if the later... I BET YOU that long before being painted in pink, the car would have been "confiscated" by an officer ;D Ask about it: GUARANTEED ;D

It has been an original idea. The vehicle is really nice and eye catching. :)

Just a question: the pink color: did you made a "random" pink, or it was your intention to emulate the "desert camo pink" ??
RG
Nice idea.

Thanks guys I appreciate the comments.

The pink is a Tamiya acrylic X-17. I lightened the colour in a few areas with white, if I remember correctly, to simulate weathered paint. I wasn't going for a desert scheme although I realised that would be an obvious assumption. I was more interested in taking the masculinity out of something seen as an object of power. A tank would have been good too but I've seen that done before (a pink Panther="Pink Panther") and thought this would look good in pink. I don't want all my builds to look the same. I have some more different ideas I'd like to do in the future. Most of them involve dioramas which I've never actually done before.
