Next build on the bench will be another very quick one.
Building the Black Poe Dameron X-wing from Revell

As well as the bits I'll be ujsing to create a pilot figure for the model

Wings assembled, minus the ends on the engines and the wingtip cannons

Canopy in place on the upper fuselage prior to final assembly.
I've moidified the cockpit itselt to accomodate the pilot figure

Pilot figure is made from a 1/48 Bandai Snowspeeder pilot with arms from a WWII figure set

Pilot was painted with an orange flightsuit. Boots and gloves were painted in with black. His face was painted in with flesh, and his goggles were picked out with yellow.
The whole figure was given a black wash before being placed into the cockpit

I painted in the lower plates on the engines with light grey primer.
The weathering was done by drybrushing a combination of silver, black, and smoke.

Thanks, guys.

urumono,
There's no posted scale on the box.
Net calls it 1/50. Pilot I made is 1/48. Your call on what's right

It needed one, Jake

Close enough for me ;D

I was just wondering if this one was scaled .
I've never built any Star Wars kits , but in watching others' builds - some kits are given a scale and some not .
I'd be curious to compare models of the "same scale" & see how close they are .

Thanks ,
Uru

Grendels has done several nice videos comparing the Bandai and Finemolds kits for differences in size among other things.

Fine molds and Bandai tend to use set scales like 1/48th or 1/72 on their star wars kits.

Revell scales the models to fit the box, so they can be random scales.

Nice work Q!

Nice job on this one. I especially like your pilot addition. I really wish Revell would have included one with the kit.

Thanks, Hagoth.
In retrospect, though, I should have made his suit red to match the ones in the movie better

Maybe it looks different in real life but I think you came pretty close on the suit color when I look at movie images. Still orange but definitely more reddish than the original trilogy orange.
