This is a kit I started some time ago (while I was working on my BoB GB models). I'm trying to finish it up in an effort to work down my WiP pile.

It is a Surak shuttle. ;D I was to lazy to take two pictures ::) ...
The both models are from my WiP pile - I have a thread started for the Surak at;
http://www.scalemodeladdict.com/forum/index.php/topic,1659.msg14830.html#new

For the 262 I plan to take another stab at preshading the panel lines today. I've not had good success with this technique in the past, especially on such a small kit. When I have used my airbrush I have always masked everything - my free hand skills with an airbrush are not so good.

And as a BTW kind of side note - if anyone is ever planning to buy this kit, the canopy is absymally awful. It does not fit against the fuselage, I could not see it's framing (because there basically was none). In the end I brush painted it as close as I could.

Here's my first sort of successful try at airbrushing the black over the panel lines for pre-shading. I think it's ok. A bit of an experiment. I used my old reliable Paashe H airbrush , which was a bit of a mistake I think.

True. But this is very bad, even by Revell standards.

Thanks Ace.

I'm just waiting to put in an order for some Vallejo thinner before I carry on...and I'm totally focused on my Wyvern build right now - too few days of holidays left before I have to go back to work.

what type of paint scheme do you have in mind?

I'm goint to paint her up as a ME 262 operating with the Erprobungsjadgruppe 2 (wow say that 10 times fast ;D).

Truthfully - it is the easiest of the two marking options with this kit. Its a five colour camo scheme.

jmac where are you getting those fancy paints , in edmonton somewhere or of the intarwebs?

interesting...

@ 13Aceofspades13 - It should be really interesting; it's a pretty complex paint scheme by my standards and I'm trying a bunch of new stuff at he same time (new paints and new techniques).

@Zappa - In the past I typically have used mainly Tamiya paints. They can be purchased at most local Edmonton hobby shops. A few of my favourite local shops are Great Hobbies, Hobby Wholesale and Comex. Lately I have been trying to change paints over to Vallejo paints. The Vallejo paints can also be bought locally at most hobby shops, however if you can wait and don't mind ordering over the phone/internet I recommend Elm City Hobbies. They have given my great service and support with the Vallejo product line.

Hey guys,

It's been a while. Now that the contest is over and I have given up on the Sci-Fi GB, I'm settling in to finish up some more of my lingering WiPs. I started back into this kit this week, after a host of problems.

My woes began with paint adhesion problems similar to the problems I experienced with my Lancaster build. I stripped the paint, but during the removal of the old paint I broke the canopy. I ordered a vac-formed canopy, it has arrived. A test fit revealed that I need to do some surgery in order to get the replacement canopy to fit (which is where I'm at right now).

Pictures to follow.

Here are some pictures of the progress so far. The first is just a re-attachment of the wings after the paint was stripped (they were originally attached with some CA, the stripper attacked it and they fell off - good thing too because it gave me a chance to repaint the cockpit). Then you can see the cut out of the dorsal "hump" to provide a spot to attach the new canopy.

Sweet little kit !

I hope so Norm.

Here is the new canopy in place. It's a much better fit than the original. I did however make a small mistake on the front wind screen, I trimmed a little too much off getting it to fit against the fuselage...

I have to make a replacement dorsal antenna, and mask; hoping to prime the model tomorrow.

Priming and the first two colours are done. I've finished up the RLM 76 under belly and the aluminum panels. Today I plan to do a ton of masking and start the top side colours (RLM 81 & 82). But first I've got some major AB clean out to do and get myself to a copy shop.

Pictures soon.
