Here's my group build entry in progress, in the middle of painting and sealing it right now. Will be done in the markings of a Canadian CC-177 Globemaster III. The decals used will be a custome printed set by CanMilAir and the kit decals for the stencils and walkways.

I've seen these planes and have been on one ... they are absolutely huge. Can't wait to see this done.

I walked trough one, never got to fly in it though. They are huge. Id love to find some type of scale reference for it because just to look at the model without any it looks more like a converted 737. I may see if I can find some 1/144 modern airfield equipment and vehicles to do a little tarmac scene. Im still considering placing it in flight, so If I do that, I want to get a 1/144 CF-18 to pose in a formation flight with the big Globemaster.

Yeah I would say a 1/144 CF-18, or 1/144 C-130.

Rumors have it that we might be getting 6 more!

Really, that seems off with the Afgan mission winding down.

Well apparently the US has cut about 100 aircraft out of their contract that they originally wanted, which means Boeing is trying to find homes for them, and offering them up at about half price.

If they nabbed 6 more C-17s, along with the 15 or so new C-130J's, the CF could likely get rid of all of the older C-130s. AS it was, they were going to keep flying 10 or so of the newest of the old H model Hercs.

Not written in stone mind you, but seems to be a good deal. I would think the funds used to maintain the old Hercs would likely pay for the C-17s.

A couple AC-130 would be cool ... with this in flight ... kinda like escorts. would have to be the Armor Class 130 with all the guns ;D

Huge plane. 1:144 and it looks like it dwarfs your keyboard. If you're taking votes, I'd say some F-35's in Canadian colours flying escort (we are supposed to get them someday right - maybe), or CF-18s if you want to keep it real.

Good Work.

I saw somwheres today that Minicraft is supposed to be releasing a 1/144 C-130J kit this year, that with maybe a CF-18, CF-35 and a Canadair 604 would make an impressive ramp display.

Just recreate CFB Trenton, C17, C130J, C130H, and throw in an IL-76. Last time I was through Trenton, we had just gotten our first C-17. There was the C-17 and IL-76 lined up side by side on the tarmac. It had been leased for moving stuff to Kandahar, similar deal that we had with the Antonovs before we got the C-17s. Wish I would have had the cajonies to take pictures of the flight line, but the best shot is with in a stone's throw from the main gate at Trenton, and no where really to stop.

My buddy in the MP section in Ottawa told me later that they probably would have made life difficult if I had of stopped to snap a few, but was a cool site to see them side by side.

I will be keeping an watch for the Minicraft kit. But is all going to depend on if it is the stretched one or not. Italeri makes a 1/72 C-130J, but it isn't the stretched version we bought. To do it in 1/72, you would need 2 kits, and be willing to cut them apart to stretch the fuselage. Hopefully the Minicraft one will be the proper stretched fuselage!

Sometimes the Trenton boys are flying her above RMC at very low altitude and do some wicked
Fly by.... And that baby is huge! Been waking in and around her during an Airshow in Trenton
And it's impressive! My buddy took hundreds of pictures... And gave me a CD... What details are you looking for? I might have a snap shot of it?

Anyway! Your bird looks Awesome!

Norm.

Thanks Norm. My build is in a holding pattern right now as I sort out a few issues with decals, thats why I have a Tamiya F-16 on the go, I have to keep my momentum.

Id love to get some nice clear pics of the antenas underneath the fuselage, I havent seem very many of those. Id also like to see a few close in pictures of the 3 circular antennas accross the spine fwd of the wingroot. besides that, maybe justy some good profiles showing the placement of the major markings.

I remember him taking belly shots while it flew at slow speed above us. So maybe the antennas you are talking about are there?

Side shots and close ups of the markings shouldn't be a problem.... I'll look for the CD and come back to you!
