Revell snap tite kit: Tie fighter

That indeed looks really nice. Enjoyed watching that. Great details.
Would be very interesting to know what the scale of that kit is. It looks pretty big. Would be cool if it is compatible with the old MPC kits.

Hope this helps...

The kit is around 1/41 ish? Definitely larger than the Fine Molds 1/48 tie.

It is pretty close to being in scale with the old MPC X-wing and it close but just a bit smaller than the old MPC Tie Advanced and the newer Revell Tie Advanced

Here is a comparison shot of it with the old MPC kits and the Revell kit
Here the Revell Tie Advanced is on the left, Revell Tie in the center and MPC X-Wing on the right

Here's the comparison in size between the Revell Tie Advanced and MPC Tie Advanced. You can see the MPC is just a bit bigger so the Revell one looks clsoer in scale to the regular tie and the MPC X-wing

@ Blakeh1
Thanks for those comparison shots. Clears up a lot. So at first sight it appears the Revell Kit is just a tad too small for the old MPC kits. Still I see myself owning the revell kit. Some wonderfull detail there.

@ Grendels
Another cool installment. It is fun to see kits assembled this way.

Have watched the first two videos on YouTube as they've been released.
Nice conclusion, and a good work building this TIE, John!
It turns out to be a very nice kit in the Revell's SW line. Might get me a pair of these to display together with my Revell's TIE-X as they seem to be in scale.

I have a real love hate relationship with Revell's Star Wars kits. I really hate the messed up scales, how hard is it just to keep a few things at a a consistent scale? I want to check out there new Sith Infiltrator, heaven knows what strange scale that is though, whatever fits in the box and sells the most on the shelves I suppose.

Consistent scale sure would be nice and I think would provide a market to a lot of modellers who avoid those kits for that reason. Obviously box scale must be working for them as is, but I think they are missing out on the potential to generate more sales had they stuck with a consistent scale. I'd love to see the reasoning behind how they determine what size to make the models. To me it currently seems like they just pick a random size out of the hat. I'm pretty sure they could have gone a box size up or down and they could have fit something to a consistent scale. if they didn't want to compete with Fine Molds for existing subjects at a certain scale they could pick their own scale. Make a 1/120 line, a 1/87 line and a 1/55 line or something

The ARC-170 and X-wing for example, make it just a wee bit smaller and it can be 1/72 scale and still fit the same box. Make it a bit bigger to go for 1/48 and I am sure you could fit it in the same type of box the Tie Advanced comes in.

As fas as the new Sith Infiltrator, I believe it is 1/120 scale (the pocket kit is something like 1/240 maybe?)

Thanks all!

One of my YouTube subscribers posted that this kit is 1/57 from the Revell of germany's site. I can't find that info so I don't know for sure. The directions said not one thing about the scale...

Revell did indeed list it as 1/57 on there site, but if it was truly 1/57, than the Fine Molds 1/48 tie would really be about 1/65.

Revell has been a bit off when they list scales sometimes. I believe I saw the ARC-170 listed as 1/48 on on of their sites, but it is really somewhere between 1/65 and 1/72

Thats probably why they don't list scales most times

A really nice wee build. Looked alot fun. The pre-paint is really quite good looking.

Totally agree with you guys about the scale. I'd be buying these fighters up like hot cakes if they'd only release them to all to the same scale. Any scale would do, as long as it's consistent across the range.

Yeah....aside from the weird inconsistent scale.
That TIE Fighter looks really good, and went together like a PB&J sammich!!!
I will have to get me one....or three!
;D ;D ;D
