I'm checking for all the posts I opened here and didn't found the SLAVE ONE i built 2 years ago, the Revell Model kit.

So here is the story.
I got an exhibition to do about Sci-fi in a convention about... Sci-fi. :D I got the crazy idea to do some dioramas about various typical scenes from Empire Strike Back since it was the 30th anniversary.

So I decided to build, quickly, some of my kits, and the Revell ones, pre-painted, easy to do, was a logical choice.

The box

Easy and quick building (glued here and there but mostly "snap kit").

Fisrt dry brushing to reveal details...

Some washes and painting later, after a few hours of work, here is what I ended with...

Despite the fact I've got some problems with the canopy, I was quite happy with the result. With more time the kit would had look better but with the kind of delay I got it's more than all right...

Here is the final result in natural lights

Here with the flash (the colors are more vivid)

Some comparisons with my printed documents.

I was supposed to exhibit it in a diorama, I never had the time to gather the good parts, and never builded the building nore the landing pad. Quite a shame...

Wow..just looking at the sculpt, it really looks close to what the Fine Molds kit did. I've been one of the advocates for these Revell kits. They seem to get a lot of bad comments due to the pre-painted snap together aspects on some of the other forums..but once you get a good layer or paint or even just a good subtractive wash, I think they look pretty good and reasonable for the price you pay.

Good job, and nice work.

I have built up their tie fighter. It is a pretty nice kit. Looks good out of box. I just wish the would make the same kit without the pre paint

Nice work Youli. Looks great after you put your own touches to the paint. 8)

Thanks :D

Pre-painted or not, what difference it makes if you weathered it correctly ? Or even painted it back ? :D

The choice is ours. And, ultimatly, that products is PERFECT to convince youngsters, or even adults, to try building "simple" kits. :D

Some of the Revell line is bad (the Clone E wing or so, don't remember the name, is with RAISED lines :( ) but most of it is EXCELLENT ! Mostly the little ones, Easy kit pocket. The Falcon is awesome, the Tie Interceptor and Tie Advanced has all the good details you need for a fine little Star Wars kit. :D

Looks good. I like the Revell kits, with a bit of detailing and weathering/repaint they are nice kits.

For me the biggest downside is lack of any uniform scale and opting for a fit the box scale

What scale does this one work out to be?

The "big" revell kits are sold with little figures, rubber figures... A mess ! And not enough of it for the Gunship for example.

The Slave One here is smaller than the MPC or Fine Molds kit. I'd say 1/100, 1/110 ? ;)
