To make a long story short (yeah, riiiight
, Mr. Rodgers finally emailed me on 5/29 to inform me that the items were out of stock and that he would send me a shipping notice when the order is ready. I've heard from more than a few people, prior to that email, that they've had similar experiences with Strada Sports. A couple said that they had to wait almost a year before receiving their merchandise. I responded that I wanted a refund because I didn't appreciate paying for OOS stuff upfront and not given the option to cancel the order. Mr. Rodgers emailed me on 5/30 and said that he can send me a refund for my order (What gives with the pointless and redundant query on whether that is what I want? I believe that I stated as much in my previous reply.) but he didn't charge me for my order. He only charges out items when they are ready to ship. If, he wrote, I made payment by PayPal, they do take payment directly. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. His PP account already has my money. All he had to do was issue the refund and put an end to this. The part about his not charging for orders is....incorrect, to put it politely. BBB has complaints from customers being charged for OOS items and waiting months and, in some cases, not receiving their orders or refunds. It's already 6/6 and he hasn't responded to my reply from last week nor refunded the money. I recently ordered some kits, which were listed as "In Stock" from a shop in California. That day following the order, I received an email from the owner explaining that my order was cancelled because the kits were no longer available from his distributor. He also apologized for not updating his site to reflect their status. This guy earned my respect for explaining the situation in such a prompt and courteous manner. I immediately place another order for four times the value of the cancelled one and received it that same week. He'll get a lot more business from me just because he didn't give me the business.
I don't expect to get concierge service when I buy something from a vendor. I do, however, expect to have whatever was paid for shipped in a reasonable and timely manner, not whenever the guy decides to get around to it. I also expect to have the option of waiting until the items are restocked or cancelling outright and issued a refund if I am given, and not satisfied with, an indefinite ETA. I've read comments from other people in different forums telling someone else who dealt with Strada Sports to be patient with Mr. Rodgers. In addition to Strada Sports, they write that he works 60-70 hours a week. To be honest, and not wishing to come across as an insensitive mook, that's really not any customer's problem or concern. If one wishes to run a side business in addition to working full-time, one still has the responsibility of providing good service to his customers and not falling back on excuses for lousy service.
