Well I picked this kit up a few months ago at Hobby Lobby with a 50% off coupon. So my plan is to try a bunch of rust and weathering on it since I've only got 20 bucks in it. I'm new to most of these techniques so I figured if this kit gets ruined no big deal. Here is the kit assembled before paint.

I painted the kit and then drybrushed two lighter shades over it for color variation. Then I used MIG pigments old rust with white glue and water. The result was very dramatic and I didnt think it looked very realistic so I wanted to blend everything in. I took pastels and made a think paste and put that on and drybrushed that to fade it in. I was much happier with that result but it still needs a lot more weathering and the road wheels need done yet.

I tried to add streaking as rust would naturally appear in real life. I think for the most part it came out okay.

I still have more blending to do as I think some of the rust spots contrast too much and I think should fade into the paint more subtly

are you using teh AK streaking rust?
No I am just using pastels with water and draging it down with a dry brush. I dont have a lot of the pigments and stuff that makes it easier.

well you hvae teh right idea but enammels would probaly be better, still its good practice

Nice start , you gonna mess it up some more ?

Did you under coat it with red primer and chip some spots , looks like it was done like that in some spots , either way nice work .

Oh and by the way , in the entire modeling world you're the only other Browns fan I've found !!!

Love dem Browns ..........

Yeah I'm still making it more dirty and rusty. I want it to look like some piece of junk thats been sitting around for a while. Yes I am a huge Brown's fan. I painted our den with the official team colors from Home Depot and filled it with any little knick knacks I could find. Its nice to see another Browns fan on here, your the first one I've met since I signed up a year ago. GO BROWNS!

Yeah I'm pretty new to this but I looked the AK Interactive products and I am going to take your advice and try those on the next kit. Trail and error until I find what works for me. Thanks for the advice Spud.

no worrys lgb they are awsome and make things like this easier

I've done some more blending and fading now with the rust effects and started to add some mud to it.

I almost picked up this kit this afternoon. Decided on the Tamiya A-10 instead ! Yours is turning out awesome so far. Too bad about being that Browns fan, I'm from Pittsburgh and plan on returning to the area in about 6-12 months :) Maybe we can meet for the annual rivalry game :D
