I got the thick gummy paint and brush stroke blues going on :'( I currently use Humbrol and tamiya Acrylic paints. I am still learning and on a very tight budget. I have to buy one thing a week as far as my supplies go. Is there anything I can use to thin out my paints that I may have around the house or can find cheap?

I've had good results using either Varsol or lacquer thinner with Humbrol's enamels, just dont pour the unused thinned paint back into the tin or you'll end up with a goopy gelatinous mess.

For Tamiya acrylics I use 91% Isopropol alcohol and a few drops of Liquitex "Flow Aid" retardant. I've never had any issues with mixing the thinned Tamiya acrylics back into the jar using this mix.

While I know nothing of Humbrol, I second Carsenault's comment on Tamiya, alcohol is the way to go with them. I do use their thinner when air brushing with great results.
