Here is a Conversion Kit built in october 2006 : the Tie Droid.
It's a conversion kit bought at the Starship Modeler shop, and that only needed the underestimated Tie Fighter from AMT/ERTL
I gathered the kit parts needed and painted it black with a spray can, and then copper always with a spray can. It's a primer base color, not the definitive one.
Here are the parts...
It's a Droid. So no need for a cockpit. I salvage it and replace the cockpit with a circle reflective object that you have sometime in the bicycle wheels.
The "eye" was painted copper, with a Smoke Screen Tamiya paint on it. It's red for most people but I do like it this way.
First result...
Glueing it was easy but the resin parts will show some bad habits in time : it will not stay straight. But at the moment, here was the first step on building and glueing...
The blue is a paint mix made from enamel paints... Some in progress pictures...
After that just a walk in the wood, simple enough painting and weathering process...
Here the Completed and painted kit.
The stand is the one from the Tie Interceptor kit.
This last picture show you the "deflector" taken from a bicycle that look nice IMHO
